The Belmont

The hotel was located in a quiet road, not too far from both Shanklin Old Village and Shanklin seafront (Via footpath or lift) The property has a pleasant appearance from the outside and a clean reception lounge with a great selection of holiday essentials, including an honesty payment system for a good selection of snacks and drinks, a nice little touch . The infra red sauna room was a nice facility, although not used myself, I am told that it was a nice experience and well maintained. The breakfasts were great, with a good choice of cooked breakfasts, all freshly cooked to order, good selection of teas, coffees and juices along with pastries and cereals, all served in a clean and bright dining room. All in all, the facilities were good, but the bedroom furniture could do with updating or refreshing.

The lack of cleaning and changes of towels/bedding during the stay was a little disappointing for a 4 star rated hotel. Pool area was not as inviting as it could be and at the time of our stay the pool had debris in the bottom, and the area around the pool looked a little tired. The "Deluxe" room, was fairly small, but generally clean with most of the facilities you would need, such as Iron, tea making facilities etc. There was a lack of bedside power sockets, something that I would expect in this age of mobile phones and their charging requirements. The only issue we encountered during the stay was a very noisy toilet fan that screeched loudly when it came on with the bathroom light, a real annoyance during the night, for ourselves and other residents. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to the detergents used on the bedding and was left with a rash over my arms legs and chest, thankfully this was soon identified and controlled with the help of a local pharmacist, just something to be aware of if you have sensitive skin.

Good location and very friendly staff, room was clean and the breakfast was lovely.

A very clean, well presented room. All the facilities you come to expect and need even for a single night. A very warm welcome from the host and a good explanation of the hotel layout. Keys given for hotel and room access, better than problematic technical type, which we appreciated.

Lovely Landlady & Landlord, friendly but not intrusive. Good location Good choice of breakfast and the best cooked breakfast, lovely poached eggs.

What can I say everything you could wish for ! Fresh croissants to cereal juices tea coffee and Linda's breakfast menu everything you would wish for all cooked freshly absolutely fantastic to start your day !
