La Breche

We went in not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was charming, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was neat, clean and very spacious. It had a kettle which was a big plus for us. The bathroom was very modern and nice. Only downside was not having an elevator for our luggage.

We stayed for 2 nights in La Breche in June. The hotel is situated north of the Loire river, which is a 10 minute walk across a bridge from the centre of Amboise. The walk is pleasant during the day although there are lots of bugs once the light fades of an evening. The room was simple but clean upon arrival, and also cleaned thoroughly each day. Our room only had a shower rather than a bath. The hotel also has a well rated restaurant which attracts a handful of people in the evening (for us, this was a small negative as the hotel carpark was full when we arrived, although on street parking is free anyway). The staff were also friendly and helpful. Overall, the hotel was reasonable value for money and I would stay there again.

We spent one night at La Breche after taking the train there from Paris Gare Austerlitz. Location is just a few minutes walk from the train station. It is located on the other side of the Loire River from the main section of town and from Amboise Castle but it is an easy and scenic 15 minute walk. This hotel is family owned and operated and the hosts could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is a wonderful traditional French restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. The room was nothing special but it was comfortable and fine for one night. The friendliness of the owners more than made up for the deficiencies of the room.

Excellent value. A lovely 15 minute walk to city centre and a very quick walk to train station. Unfortunately not there long enough to try meals but other guests informed us they were excellent. Making a cup of coffee in our room on arrival was a treat.

Had stayed here years ago & loved it.....always planned to go back. I was on the 2nd floor this time and it was very noisy. Could hear every step of people going up the stairs and the people walking around in the room above mine. The grounds are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It's about a mile to walk downtown. I would probably stay in the downtown area if I go back to Amboise.

We were very happy with our stay here. The room was large enough and clean. Plus the restaurant in the hotel is fabulous. It is a bit of a walk to the main downtown section but we enjoyed the walks - over the river.

Charming- excellent location, parking easy, staff very nice

Just as advertised, the hotel is directly around the corner from the station. We arrived after dark and were greeted by name by the receptionist. Our room was on the top floor, a little tight but bed was large and comfy and bathroom was well equipped. Had a great meal in the restaurant on site. The walk into town is easy and scenic. Loved everything about Amboise! spent an afternoon having wine in the garden at the hotel. Great visit!

This is a great little good value hotel. 200 metres from the Amboise train station and 15 minutes walk into Amboise CBD. Good English spoken by friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I stayed 5 nights, our room was recently & tastefully renovated, and was big enough to include our two large suitcases. There is an Aldi supermarket 100 meters away. There is no lift, so you have to be willing and able to carry your suitcases up the stairs. The compact shower alcove may be too tight for very large people. The meals at the gourmet restaurant in the hotel were very high quality. It fulfilled all our key requirements: safe, clean, good beds, English spoken, close to train, affordable.
