Chiang Mai Gate Hotel

I stopped at Chiang Mai gate hotel for 4 nights recently. The hotel is excellent value. It’s also very well located a 5 min walk from the city walls and local shops, restaurants and money exhangers. My room was very quiet, the air con unit made a little bit of noise, but I found it was good to have on at night as it did drown out any inconsiderate guests as they could be heard slamming doors. However, the hotel can’t really be responsible for that. Breakfast was very good, in the downstairs restaurant, fruits, cereal, Asian and Western style. The hallways looked a bit dated, but once inside the room. My room had a balcony, was clean and well maintained. The staff were also very smart and helpful. The best thing about the hotel was the staff and ease of location to the town. They also had a nice swimming pool that gets the sun most of the day and a masseur which I used during me stay. I’d definitely stop here again, I was sorry I didn’t book for longer.

Great location by the Old City, Chiang Mai Market and Saturday Night Market. Property decor in Lanna style, with swimming pool, Spa facilities, lounge, restaurant,.. guest room with a balcony. The staff is very friendly and accommodating

Bathroom was DIRTY, Taps full of grime. Breakfast was always cold, Went for 6-30 am breakfast when dinning room opened, and cooked food was still cold. Staff was very pleasant, but would NOT recommend hotel.

Old tired dirty hotel. Restaurant food cold, not clean

Was once a lovely hotel but now needs many updates, it is old and tired, needs new flooring, painting and cleaning. The restaurant was not kept tidy during mealtimes, the food was not hot. I would not stay here again.

The staff were very helpful in holding my bag when i had a late flight and organising a last minute day tour and my taxi to the airport. Always friendly and smiling. I can not fault the staff even the cleaning staff were friendly. The room i had was a little dissapointing compared to previous reviews. I had a room on the top floor which had a very noisy air con unit on the balcony (this should be noted somewhere) which caused me a bad sleep. Paint was coming off the walls, the bedside lights looked like they were falling off with one screw holding them on, a main light in the room not working, no tea or coffee even though there is a kettle and cups provided (slightly confusing) no bath plug, the bed had 2 sheets with the duvet which kept getting twisted during the night and showing previous stains, no hair dryer, the air con settings box was too high for me to reach and both chair cushoins were not attatched to the chair frame. I was here with a group the day before in much a better room. Best to pay a little more and get a nicer room.

Weather amazing, hotel and staff couldn’t of been anymore helpful if they tried, perfect location for us close to temples and brilliant restaurants! General hotel cleanliness was unreal only thing letting it down was the bath/shower. other than that - amazing!!

Great hotel for the price. Located near the old city, simple stroll, next to some excellent more out of the way cafes and restaurants. Great pool and exceptional house cleaning staff.

Always have a good experience at Chiang Mai gate hotel
