The Shore at Katathani

This property boasts a stunning ocean view, and our villa, complete with an attached pool, was situated right in front of the water, creating the illusion that the waves were almost spilling into our room. The staff is polite and responsive, though it lacks the level of pampering we have experienced in Thailand. The only significant drawback is the lack of a private beach area for hotel guests. If guests wish to use the beach and have a chair, they must go to the public area and pay for a chair and towel. For a five-star, adults-only hotel, I would expect a designated beachfront area exclusively for guests, complete with drink and food service, and included as part of the experience.

The villas are gorgeous with great ocean views and a beautiful swimming pool. The common areas are very clean and well kept. The staff is nice but in most cases their English is very limited. Not easy to communicate with them. Our villa was very pretty but it was up too high on the hill and far from the lobby, spa, restaurants, so we had to call and get the hotel golf cart every time we wanted to leave the villa and get back to it. Next time I would prefer a villa closer to the amenities

I'm going to start with the two negatives... it is a REALLY long ways from the Phuket airport. We flew in during rush hour and it took us 2 hours to get to the resort - 2 hours of very unscenic views, to put it mildly. Continuing in the unscenic view vein, the little town that you go through right before the resort and can walk to easily, the highlight is the 7-11. It's pretty seedy and a lot of rude tourists from one country in particular. BUT... once you enter the property, it all changes to absolute paradise. Checkin was a bit disjointed, but we were tired and cranky. You really can't walk to your Villa, except for a few of the lower ones, but very friendly valets in golf carts zip you around and show up very quickly when called. Our Villa was just wonderful - had every amenity possible, including my favorite, a totally private pool and lounge area with spectacular views! Perfect place for a honeymoon! We only ate at the main restaurant, but it was excellent and the breakfast buffet was pretty generous. Also in a beautiful setting with more beautiful views and excellent service. Wonderful entertainment at night by a duo with beautiful voices. Spent the happiest day ever just lounging on our deck and slipping in and out of our private pool. Walked down to the beach, but it's not really set up by the hotel and lots of other hotels share it. Still pretty and worth a dip, but I wouldn't spend the day there, when you've got your own private pool back at your Villa!

It was somewhat difficult having to constantly rely on a cart to go anywhere, but the staff was generally very prompt at dealing with your transportation requirements. The Thai restaurant was above and beyond. Unparalleled in terms of cuisine, presentation and service. Overall the staff was very helpful, facilities clean and a highly desirable resort to spend time in.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Shore at Katathani and would recommend to anyone visiting Phuket. My wife and I went for our 10 year anniversary and it was the best decision we could have made. The entire property is beautiful and we stayed in one of the Romance villas and it was immaculate, and we loved having our private pool with picturesque sunset views overlooking the ocean with the beautiful mountain backdrop. If youre celebrating a milestone or event like we were its totally worth the cost. The service we received was top notch especially from our driver/room attendant Ricky and the check in hostess Jessie who made check in and our entire stay smooth and seamless. 5 star experience for an incredible property and unmatched service
