Sitka Hotel and Restaurant

Tired and worn. We would have changed hotels after the first night but nothing else was available. C- at best

The room was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was a disaster for a solo woman traveler. I was shown to a two person table when I arrived. It was the only one but would have been great if both the front restaurant doors hadn't been open and the table was directly in front of the open doors. The hostess was doing her best and no seats left at the bar, so ok, I take the table. After 5 to 10 minutes I ordered some pasta and a glass of wine. Wait time to take my order was a bit long, but well, they were very busy. I decided while they were preparing my order to go get my coat because it was cold. Came back to the table and there was my order sitting out getting cold. No wine. No water. I sent the order back because I expected to be able to relax and have a glass of wine before dinner. After all, 10 or 15 minutes for a cocktail and the food would have been stone cold. I didn't think anything was wrong, and I asked for my wine and the bartender said he wouldn't serve me!! He accused me of being intoxicated! I hadn't even had a glass of water at that point. Terrible scene with the bar tender yelling at me in front of other guests. Terrible, terrible experience. Was I wrong to request/expect my wine prior to dinner? The guy just flipped. I'm still not sure what I did wrong, but it was an awful experience.

The hotel itself is in an amazing location downtown! It is steps away from some of the best food that Sitka has to offer, and some amazing site seeing. However the actual hotel isn't the best. Our room wasn't cleaned all the way upon arrival with crumbs in the kitchen, food left in the fridge, and spots on the towels. The bed itself was not comfortable at all, and was very load with any movement at all. The hotel is also an older hotel with very thin walls, so we could hear everything happening both inside and outside of the hotel at all hours which was a bit of an inconvenience at 2 AM with the town bar right next door. Overall not an awful hotel room, but also far from the best, but it is hard to beat its location.

Shower in the room didn't work. We need to go to a different room to shower.

Easy access from port, and the hotel had a free early morning shuttle to the airport.

Check-in was done by one very young, but nice man. Nowhere to get coffee while we waited an hour for our room. Actually there is a nice sports bar/restaurant next door, but no one told us until we overhead a guest talking about it! The Mean Queen. Rooms have a nice view of ocean and eagles flying.in room coffee is nice, and beds were excellent

Great location Friendly staff

Hotel was in a good location, rooms are big with kitchenette, but the downsides are the lack of competent staff and outdoor noise. It took a hour to check in to hotel. We arrived before 1400 and immediately upon walking in we were just told check in isn’t until 1500 - no problem, held our bag- came back after 1500 and the agent was unable to assign us a room without the manager had to wait for them to arrive and the manager instead of acknowledging us and assisting us to our face went to their office and continued to text / call front desk to assign us a room. No hospitality / customer service by anyone, and it did not get better. The noise is not hotel fault at all but good for people to know- right next to bar that has back doors open, fun bar but loud if trying to sleep. Hotel bar is great! Grab a beer and enjoy!

The location is good, but the hotel needs updating. Online descriptions are not an accurate representation of actual room. Rooms are very small, and get hot and stuffy - no fans or a/c. Every time someone in a nearby room shut their door, our hand soap/lotion dispenser would fall off the mirror in the restroom. Front desk staff hardly looked up from their phones to acknowledge customers.
