Backwater Ripples Kumarakom

Backwater Ripples has been my favorite place since I first visited in 2019 and I keep coming back. I’ve been there 5 times and I will be back. I have traveled the world but this is the place I always long to come back to. It truly feels like home: a uniquely peaceful place where you can truly relax. I organize yoga trips to India and I have brought my groups to the resort, and will bring more, they all fell in love with it as I have. It’s a perfect place to end a trip to relax and feel authentic South Indian hospitality. The food is delicious and organic (the resort grows its own food), the activities are truly aligned with the resort’s philosophy to support its natural environment and the local villages and their crafts, tea-time every afternoon at 4 is a treat, followed by the wonderful sunset cruise. The resort is pristinely clean, the accommodations are comfortable and gorgeous, the grounds are meticulously kept and the lake is its crowning glory. And the staff cannot be praised enough: they are the best I have ever seen, as a world traveler. I kept the best for last: Sindhu who welcomes you and makes you feel like family, making sure you have the best experience. She is the heart and soul of this resort and one of the reasons why I keep coming back. I call her “the angel in a sari” and she’s the one of the kindest, most dedicated and professional persons I know. I highly recommend Backwater Ripples. You will not regret it.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with everything

The canal boat cost was too high and frankly not worth the cost. Food options were not great. Very limited options and taste wise also was just ok.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful resort. From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful, refreshing, and perfectly maintained. The surroundings are lush and serene — truly a place where you can escape the city and embrace nature. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Waking up to the stunning nature views was the highlight of our stay. The staff was warm, polite, and always ready to help, making me feel right at home. The amenities were excellent, and every little detail was thoughtfully arranged for a relaxing experience.

Iltapäivätee ja auringonlaskuristeily olivat ihanat. Sijainti oli ihanasti backwaterseilla. Uima-allasalue todella miellyttävä ja näköalat kauniit. Huone oli kiva ja sängyt hyvät.

This is a lovely property handled by professionals , staff is very courteous and helpful . The food was multi cuisine and the quantities were quite big and was generally tasty .The chay kada in the evening is something to look forward to , overall the ambience , the sounds of nature and the peace is very refreshing and rejuvenating.

We felt the 5 star service at the Backwater Ripples from the moment we arrived and it continued throughout our 5 day stay. The hotel is located in a peaceful area on the lake and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and a great swimming pool. They have a great choice of rooms, most of which are with balconies or outdoor space and the rooms are well equipped. The oversized double beds are very comfortable. The breakfast choice was extensive with Indian and continental pastries and eggs cooked to your style. They have an à la carte menu plus a buffet for dinner in the restaurant and all day dining from the separate bar. We were so happy with the food we didn’t bother to leave the hotel for other restaurants. An added bonus is the free afternoon tea between 4 and 5 followed by a complimentary boat trip on the lake for an hour. Looking forward to returning next year
