Shawlee Cottage

This gem of a BnB is the best find ever. We have both travelled extensively throughout the globe in various properties and property types, and Sandy & Cathy’s wonderful place rates at the top. Thank you to them both for such a wonderful, homely, comfortable, welcoming and fabulous time - 10+ stars ✨

Nothing to dislike at all

Sandy was very welcoming and ensured I was happy throughout my stay. Unfortunately, I never met his wife due to her being ill. I would definitely stay at Shawlee Cottage again in the future and I would recommend this hospitality to anyone looking for a warm, comfortable, good breakfast and nice hosts. Thank you for making my stay a pleasant one.

It was an absolute pleasure to stay here. The hosts were charming and attentive. It was fun to talk with them and the other guests, and the breakfast (made specially for each guest) was some of the best food I had while in the UK. The bathroom was pretty small, and the shower was one of those stand-alone ones that looks a bit like a box, but the bathroom and room were always very clean. The parking was a bit tight when every spot was full (I had a large rental car), but there was enough space for everyone. There was a cute bakery that is open in the mornings (and only takes cash) across the street as well as a post office and convenience store. The location isn't close to anything major, but it is nicely situated if you have a car and are hoping to travel to different places around Scotland. The wifi was great. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. In particular, I appreciated the wonderful hosts who you could tell truly cared about all their guests and who go out of their way to make everyone's stay enjoyable.

Breakfast was a treat, made us ready for a new days adventures. Plenty of good traveltips and tricks from our hosts. They were also attentive to our needs and we felt very welcome.

A little fridge in the room would have been nice.

Bathroom a little small

Both Cathy and Sandy made us feel right at home. The food was very nice and and the hosts were attentive to all our needs.

Our hosts, Kathy and Sandy, were fantastic. Their local knowledge and suggestions on what to do and see were invaluable. A generous breakfast was provided each morning in charming surroundings. The B & B offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

This is not a question of what we didn't like, but visitors should be aware that there is no lounge or common area where they can sit and visit or perhaps play a game in the evening.

Sandy and Kathy were excellent hosts . Everything about Shawlee cottage was spot on for us . Would Highly recommend
