Hotel Savoy Palace - Tonelli Hotels

The Savoy Palace is a lovely hotel with extended seating area at the bar and an extensive dining area, top of which overlooks the pool and garden. It is quite far out of Riva though, a good 20 minute walk but there is a bus stop not far from the hotel on the main road which costs approx 2 euros per person each way. This was a special anniversary holiday for us booked as a package holiday, the room we got was on the 5th floor overlooking the back of the hotel not far from building work, the room was small and very old looking with marks on the walls and a very small balcony. As it was a special holiday I asked reception if we could be moved due to the building work etc and eventually after having to say it was a special anniversary holiday we were moved to the first floor to a much nicer bigger room with a lovely balcony overlooking the side of the hotel. Unfortunately we found the food not to our liking at all, there was a selection for 1st, 2nd and dessert courses but obviously a lot of pasta and seafood but all the food we had was just a bland taste - not what we expected from a 4 star hotel in Italy. I would not recommend anyone to take the half board option at this hotel, we ate out one night as there was nothing on the menu that we wanted to eat and had chicken and chips and a delicious dessert not far from the hotel which was full of flavour and we enjoyed a lot. Our waiter Omar was very pleasant and helpful but the rest of the staff were very unfriendly and quite often we had to step back to let the staff come down the steps instead of them standing back to let guests through! On one occasion we even had to ask at reception to ask housekeeping to leave some toilet roll and tissues in our room as they didn't when cleaning the room! We also came back one day and the balcony door was open - we didn't leave it that way and I can only assume that they forgot to close it after servicing the room. When we checked out the receptionist didn't even ask if we had a nice stay or wished us a safe journey home. We stayed at this hotel about 20+ years ago and honestly couldn't fault it but not this time - the hotel should only be given 3 stars in my opinion, we will definitely will not stay there again.

Wir hatten Halbpension und waren vom Abendessen sehr begeistert. Es ist abwechslungsreich und sehr lecker. Das Frühstück ist reichlich und lecker

We enjoyed a lot our stay, the indoor pool was great. Breakfast restaurant is very nice, with lot of choices. The garden with pool is also very beautiful, can highly recommend this hotel.

It was bit far from city center and hard to get to city. Parking was limited and cars parked chaotically in the garage. Rooms are bit outdated, especially the bathroom has older design.
