House Jelena

Friendly owners/staff, close to the national park, easy to find, very clean.

My girlfriend and I had a great time at House Jelena. Jelena was very kind and helpful. When she found out that we did not rent a car, she offered to pick us up and drop us off at the national park and various restaurants for half the price of the typical, overpriced taxi fee in this tourist area. She and her husband invited us to join them and their friends and family for lunch, whereby her husband cooked us traditional Croatian goulash (stew) made of veal and wild boar meat he hunted himself. Jelena is a great baker. Her Croatian custard cake was to-die-for! They treated us like family and we felt like we just waved goodbye to a family member when we checked out and Jelena bid us farewell at the bus station.

This lively house has an attic area that is converted to cozy rooms for guests. There is a communal bathroom, kitchen area and dining area. Jelena, the owner is very hospitable and helpful and serves a lovely breakfast each day to guests for about $7 each. She is also very helpful with tourist information. We enjoyed our stay there!

Enjoyed our stay very much. Close to the park. Jelena and her mom were lovely. When we arrived her mother brought us coffee and pastries and showed us our room. Gave us a bigger room because we were the only ones there. Room was great. Very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast for which we paid extra but it was worth it as we were heading to the park. Great place to stay. Highly recommended.

House Jelena is a lovely guest house close to the Plitvice Lakes national park. We stayed here for a night before exploring the park the next day. It's a beautiful and comfortable house with good self-catering facilities. The landlady, Jelena, is very sweet and helpful and even gave us a little bowl of home-made plum jam to enjoy after our dinner. Highly recommend!!

We loved the place and it was only a 10 min drive to the lakes. We would definitely stay here again.

Room was in a nice location not far from Plitvice Lakes and with lovely views around. The woman running it was very welcoming and friendly with a really good local knowledge. Was clean and comfortable although two single beds pushed together to make a double.

We booked this hotel and a week later we were emailed to say they had double booked and we couldnt stay there. While unhappy about this they did make arrangements for alternative accomodation which was appreciated.

Loved our 2 night stay at House Jalena. We stayed in the ground floor room with a separate entrance. The room had everything we could want for a short stay and was neat and clean. The owner was kind and friendly. The parking space was much appreciated. So was the breakfast we opted for. Special mention goes to the delicious homemade plum jam...so good! We had a little outdoor patio space to relax in and were visited by the feisty little house kitten every once in a while for play time. Around a 10 minute drive to Plitvice National Park (having our own rented car was super convenient) and staying close by meant we had the advantage of visiting early morning and evening when crowds had thinned. We had the nicest time and would definitely recommend House Jalena. P.S. Another tip. We drove nearby to Restoran Degenija for an awesome dinner. Great restaurant!

Is a house guest of just 4 room, 10 min driving from Piltvice Nat Park entrances, in a quiet place, surrounded by nature, flowers and small birds ... we were received by a little kitty and the owner of the house, huge room, with all that you need, to spent 1 night and sleep like a kings. No breakfast or any meal, but there are the best restaurants just 5 to 10 min away ... you can walk or drive.
