"felt let down."

2.0

I booked 4poster and bath. got there no bath. boss blamed agency. moved to attic room with bath. mould in bathroom and bedroom ceiling. told watch when you open windows because wasps nest above. got into bed. very uncomfortable kingsize headboard with 2 single beds. hole rite down middle of beds.it light blew. .asked for move and told full up yet only 4 tables set for breakfast.. it completely ruined my honey moon. should of stayed single. £620 for 4nights of hell. I think I should get a rebate.

"Lovely hotel with spectacular views of the Lakes"

8.0

We enjoyed our visit! The rooms are comfortable and the breakfeast each morning was excellent! The drive to "Near Sawrey" is slow-going with very windy streets and many cars driving at break-neck speeds for such narrow passages. If you want to be very near the town of Ambleside, this location might not suit. Our only "complaint" of the property was this. There was a lovely lawn with croquet wickets set up. When my daughter and I went to play there were only two black balls (of different sizes) and only one very old mallet. Granted, the hotel caters to couples and children 13 and above, but adults like to play croquet as well as teens, and it seemed a shame this detail was overlooked -- especially when the beautifully manicured lawn with the incredible views -- beckoned us to play a round! Beatrix Potter's Hilltop Farm is adjacent to the property -- a wonderful, historic attribute. Overall, a wonderful visit.

"Cute hotel close to Windermere "

6.0

Lovely house with limited rooms. Small cosy feel to it. The few staff work round the clock to do everything. Needs a bit more care taken with it. Limited food and menu. As a base it was okay.

"Beautiful"

Lovely hotel with gorgeous views of nearby hills and lake. Friendly helpful staff. Our room was on the ground floor which unfortunately means you hear everyone coming & going, but it was very comfortable.

"Peaceful location"

10.0

Excellent position in a lovely part of the country. Next door to Hilltop, home of Beatrix Potter which was an added unexpected bonus. Beautiful views from dining rooms & gardens. All the staff were so nice & friendly. Only thing I would have liked was a bit of heating in the evening. It got quite chilly even though it was the end of June but this was probably due to the heavy rain we had.

"OK hotel with a glorious view"

6.0

The view from the hotel and its garden cannot be beat, but the hotel itself wasn't worth what we paid for it. £135 per night I'd be expecting more refined service. The breakfasts were meger and unimpressive. They didn't seem quite ready to cater for guests. There was mould on the shower hose and cobwebs hanging from the bedroom ceiling. The small touches just weren't there.
