Zuurberg Mountain Village

Full breakfast with continental and fry up offered, really great. Dinners were also great, 5 courses! Make sure you have space to do the buffet justice. We had a wonderful morning game drive with Alan our guide, saw 4 of the big 5 and enjoyed a mid morning breakfast in the park. Lovely 2 day stay.

What a wonderful surprise. On arrival we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Spent 2 nights in lovely, clean accommodation. We were very pleased that we used Zuurberg Mountain Village as our accommodation to access the Addo Elephant Park. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

The food

The hotel is in need of some TLC. Guests dogs were allowed to roam the place freely including walking/ sitting on the sofas. It did stipulate that dogs were welcome but to be kept on a leash, sadly not the case and they were even in the restaurant walking freely. The room was cold and the member of staff who showed us to our room said it would soon warm up with the air con on. Unfortunately it did not work.

I’m in a bit of a dilemma! The hotel is a glorious throwback to a different era. The bungalows are beautiful, clean, spacious and bright. Sherry and lime, refilled every day, in the room. Breakfast, buffet and kitchen, is top class. Dinner is presented in the grand old manner. Six courses plus coffee. Awesome food, well presented. The staff are unfailingly friendly and attentive. The scenery around is glorious and the drive up to the hotel is fun (!). If you ever get the chance, go! Sit on the stoep, have a cocktail and watch the monkeys caper by. The dilemma is that it’s a place that I would like to keep to myself, as a guilty secret!

Beautiful scenic location. Staff was excellent! Especially Anthony. Did not like the road to get there. It is not maintained.
