Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus - All Inclusive

One reviewer was complaining about the Russian flag. I guess the administration paid attention and removed Russia's flag at the entrance. There was no more construction at the resort. I've read many complaints about construction going on, I guess they finished it before our arrival. There were many Russians, but all that I met were living in US, they didn't come directly from Russia. A lot of people form Argentina as well. Very few English speaking guests. This is a mostly Spanish speaking resort. Few of the staff have an acceptable grasp of English. Most are at the front desk.The only downside is that many of the activities and the shows are mostly in Spanish (some are trying to also repeat it in English and French, but it's hard to understand it). This was not a big problem for us as we could use a translation app in some situations. Customer service was not that great, it was OK, but not great, even after leaving a tip at every breakfast, lunch, dinner, on the beach, front desk, room, etc... Everyone is pretty laid back and moving slow (they say it's islands time..). Just want to say that customers service was not bad, but I've seen better at other resorts in Mexico and Jamaica, maybe it was just luck.. Room and resort was clean. Beautiful resort with birds. Beach awesome. Food was OK, not bad, but nothing too fancy. Shows were just OK as well. Kids playground only open for one hour a day. Snorkeling on site. This is one to go back in our book.

The place is clean, the beach is awesome, I think the rooms need some updates, but everything else is great, staff is awesome, we will definitely go back.

At the entrance to the hotel there are many flags of various countries. Among them I found the flag of Russian Federation - the country that started and continues the war against Ukraine. I will conduct strong campaign against Iberostar company until it removes the Russian flag from ALL their properties around the world. I will ask my representatives in the US Congress to sanction Iberostar if they do not stop showing their support of Russia.

Excellent!! Super clean, great food, friendly staff!

This is so far far from 5 star property, nothing works as supposed to. Staff doesn't really know what they are doing... trying to say "yes" but have no clue and/or no accoutability. No follow ups, no delivery of services. All inclusive buffet has large variaty, but all is tasteless... Rooms are outdated both designs and fixtures. Towels are grey (not white) with spots, "course" and are so thin from thousands wash that you almost can see through... Same with bed sheets... beds are uncomfortable at all. Air conditioning not at its best and noisy. TV reception and picture quality are awful: no resolution, delays, picture freeze. Services not included in " all inclusive" are way too expensive, and staff tries to upsell by providing incorrect info, misguiding etc... i.e. transportation, spa services etc.. Coctail drinks at the bar taste somethibg between dirty water and juice, but certainly not an alcoholic coctails. Nice clean sandy beach, although stuffed with beds too close to each other, so it feels like riding a subway car during rush hours.

Overall, it was a great stay with friendly staff. Our room cleaning lady, Noemi was beyond five stars! The views were excellent as well. The only two annoyances were the construction until 11pm and the food in the reserved restaurants was terrible if you actually know French, Italian, and Japanese cuisine. Each had false advertising in their menus. For example, fruit with grand marnier had no grand marnier and the waiter tried to lie about it until he went back to the kitchen and then admitted to it. The macaroons in the French restaurant were inedible.

So I booked this hotel because I have a 10 month old baby that needs 2 naps a day. For the price I was expecting way more. The hotel was tired and needs a lot of work. Construction on the new building is very loud and always happening right by the pool. The food was...just okay. The room we were in was supposed to have extra amenities like a playstation and a kitchen. The playstation didn't exist and the kitchen was just a room with a fridge, a hob and 2 pans. No cutlery, microwave or kettle. The rooftop pool that was part of our room was dirty and tired and needed some updates. It wasn't up to par with how much it costs. For the same price in the Maldives I had a spotless jacuzzi hut over the water. At this hotel I got, tired, dirty and frankly crap everything. The pool was nice and mostly uncrowded which was great for the baby. I think the only people who would have a good time here is boomers that love bland food and are afraid of local people.

Very good hotel, but not perfect. Good: fantastic beach with crystal clear water. Variety of food. Kind and attentive personal. Gorgeous territory, buildings and wild life. Nice entertainment all day long with many activities. Eco Purified water system. Bad: Room had cocraches by the coffee machine. The beach area was not maintained well enogh, some food and garbage were not picked up over night. The domestic market on the left side of the hotel brings lots of attention from tourists and native people. Each of four restaurants can be visited once per their schedule. Bads are minor, hotel still deserves 5 star and your attention.
