"Great staff"

We had a very attentive and friendly representative, Nahoimi, she was checking in in a daily basis and was always ready to help. Whether it was a spa reservation or a dinner last minute change she would always go out of her way to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend this hotel, where staff and amenities are excellent!

"Lacks attention to detail"

My thoughts on this hotel are 'good but not special'. After visiting the Joia Paraiso in Mexico & Joia El Mirador in Tenerife we has great expectations for this trip to Joia Bavaro, however attention to detail let it down. So, the good first - the food was great in all the a la carte restaurants. We ate around 8.00 - 8.15 each night & didn't have too much of a problem getting a table. The one occasion we went on the wait list, they had my phone number & messaged me when a table was available. Impressed by the seafood & salads on offer in the buffet, lobster tails, shrimp, crab and fresh fish. However the hot food was not very warm & the plates are cold so you will never get a hot meal. The drinks were all good brands but they do tend to use too much ice, I constantly had to ask them to remove half of it. The staff are very happy & obliging. Our butlers Danilo & Edward were great, sought us out every day to see if we needed anything. I could also contact them via a message on the Iberostar app which was handy. The entertainment in the lobby bar area was enjoyable (singer, DJ, silent disco or sax player) The Theater shows were not for us (& it was a bit smelly) Now the problem area's where the lack of attention detail let the hotel down. Our Room. Although our room was very clean & everything worked as it should the soft furnishings were a mess, the curtains, the runner at the foot of the bed & the skirt around the bed base were all creased & scruffy looking. They appear to have been washed but not ironed & the curtains & bed skirt had shrunk. There was a vase of tatty looking dried leaves, bin them they have seen better days (we had fresh flowers in Mexico & Tenerife) Restaurants. Some of the chairs in the restaurants were stained, arms loose & wobbly, tips missing off chair legs so they scrapped across the floor making a horrendous noise. (never happened in the other 2 Joia's, everything was perfect) One of the bar stools in the lobby bar has a short leg & wobbles all over the place - it's shoddy, get rid of it! Now, the real fly in the ointment. The weather was very windy & in the evening quite chilly. There was nowhere to sit & have a drink out of this wind. Some evenings we were in bed by 9.30 as the open aspect of the hotel made it a wind tunnel & it was not pleasant to sit in. There were sliding doors on the lobby bar but they would not slide easily so did not get closed! (took 2 people pushing & pulling to get one side closed. Poor maintenance?) The comfort of the guests did not appear to be a priority. Not one member of staff in the week guests had been sat wearing coats & jumpers (commenting how chilly it was) thought to mention the problem to management. We did speak with the manager so he is now aware of the problem with the doors but at this price point it should not happen. It has a lot of good points but the little things are what you pay the premium price for & they were lacking. Attention to detail is key !

"2026 February Iberostar JOIA Bavaro Review"

We had an excellent time at JOIA Bavaro! From the beach to the restaurants, everything was top-notch. We enjoyed the resort so much, but what we always remember is the staff. Our butler, Eduardo, gave us fantastic service; it was great to see him every day. For our days on the beach, Augusto met us every morning with a smile, and he took care of all our needs. When we had a special dinner on the beach, our waiter, Edy, was right there with every course, right through dessert. Several other staff members, like Kimberly in the Prestige, Emma from housekeeping, and Moises, who kept our mini bar filled, did great work. A great group of people. Julian from the wine cellar was great during our wine tasting and the rum tasting. We enjoyed and appreciated his insights. The waiter we will always remember is Samuel, who works in the Italian restaurant and at the breakfast buffet. He would have everything for us even before we would ask! We are looking forward to seeing him again. The people, food, drinks, and beautiful facilities keep bringing us back. We recommend Iberostar to all our friends and family.

"Always a great time at Joia Bavaro!"

Wonderful time as always at the Joia Bavaro. This was our 5th time at this resort. We rarely go back to the same resort over and over but this is truly one of our favorites and so consistent with service and quality. We stayed for 10 days in mid January and always hate to leave. A few shout outs to some staff that always go above and beyond and make our visit awesome. - Augusto at the Prestige Beach area. Our first stop every time we visit is to see Augusto at the Beach bar. He is so much fun, such a hard worker, and just overall a wonderful person. - Yordania and Elisabeth at the lobby bar always had a smile and great service -Entertainment staff: Snoop Dogg, Smiley, Black Mamba, and Chocolate (love their nicknames for themselves) were characters and we loved joking around with them every day. I don't have everyone's names but the entertainment staff are all fabulous and made sure we had a great time. -Butlers Jose and Houston were on their game! We had Jose for out entire visit and Houston for the second half in addition to Jose and they were both amazing. They made sure to see us every day to make sure everything was good, and the few times we did have a small issue, it was taken care of immediately. -Star Prestige staff were great as always and were always happy to help if we had a request. I got sick part way through the trip and they helped me get in touch with a local pharmacy to have antibiotics and prednisone delivered. - Housekeeping and turn down staff do a really good job at this resort. Our room was always immaculate and fully stocked. The evening shows were top notch as always. Especially loved the circus show and the one with the 4 tenors (can't remember the name of the show). Thank you to everyone at Joia Bavaro for making our 5th visit just as wonderful as all the others. We can't wait to come back and see you all again next year!

"The best resort in Punta Cana"

This is our sixth time staying at this resort and we would not go anywhere else. The food, rooms, grounds, and staff are all excellent. Would like to thank our butlers, Ceasar and Edwardo, for taking care of our needs and making us feel like family.

"Lana"

We stayed in Joia Bavaro three times. We love this resort very much. We like the resort, the beach, the service, the food, the spa, the people working there. We like all restaurants and the Gala night at the buffet. Nice shows. I would like to say a special Thank you to Sebastian, Danila, Isamar, Junior, Paloma. Darlene this people deserve a more than a Special Thank you. We are members of Prestige club. My only concern that wasn't enough palapas on the beach in January and you should go early in the morning to get them. I am talking about Prestige section. Towels in the room needs to be replaced for a new one. They do not have a white color anymore, they light gray and the smell of the towels is not pleasant. I think to change the towels is not a big deal for that kind of resort.

"Fabulous Vacation Experience!"

We just returned from our stay at Iberostar Joia Bavaro Punta Cana. Everything was perfect! It started with our checkin at the front desk. All of the employees were so pleasant. Jhobra showed us to our room and was particularly kind and friendly. He continued to check and make sure that we were having a wonderful time throughout our stay. Our butler, Reynaldo, was amazing. He made himself so accessible and was constantly checking to make sure we had everything we needed with a few extra surprises. The housekeeping staff did an awesome job and checked the room to replenish items several times a day. All of our meals were very good and the wait staff were all very attentive. I can honestly say that I didn't have one complaint about anything during our stay and will definitely plan to return. I wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this resort

"Expected more from all-inclusive"

I had high expectations for this all-inclusive resort, but unfortunately the experience was frustrating from start to finish. First, the room had an overwhelming paint smell, and the shower was extremely small, which made it uncomfortable to use. On top of that, the toilet ran nonstop and despite reporting it four separate times, it was never fixed. Basic maintenance clearly isn’t a priority. The TV didn’t work either, which added to the overall feeling that the room wasn’t ready for guests. Service was another major issue. The front desk was nearly impossible to reach—calls went unanswered repeatedly, and getting help in person felt like a hassle. Even things that should be automatic, like adding vouchers, weren’t done until I specifically asked, which shouldn’t happen at an all-inclusive resort. Noise was also a problem. The elevator made a dinging sound all night long, even when no one was using it, which made sleeping difficult. Food was hit or miss, but one night the restaurant actually smelled like sewage, which was completely unacceptable. Also, I asked for a well-done burger twice, and both times it came out nowhere close to well-done. The biggest disappointment was the lack of entertainment. There was no nightlife, the entertainment was horrible, and the pool bar was completely dead—no music, no energy, nothing. The fact that bingo was the biggest attraction says everything. This resort felt more like a quiet hotel than a fun all-inclusive destination. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place unless major improvements are made in maintenance, customer service, food quality, and entertainment. For the price, it was a major letdown.

"Leave all worries behind - you'll be well taken care of here!"

We spent 4 wonderful nights at this beautiful, adults-only hotel. The food was excellent - the breakfast and lunch buffets offered choices for everyone, with lots of fresh fruit and juices. We tried the French, Italian, and steakhouse restaurants and were very pleased with both the food and the service. Every staff was very welcoming - special shout outs to our fabulous butler, Reynaldo, who surprised us with a decorated room, champagne and fruit one evening, Ortiz at the buffet, who always greeted us with a smile (and a mimosa offer!) and Cristian at the front desk, who was kind and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms were nice, and the giant bed was very comfortable. We loved our ground floor room location on the theater side of the resort near the lobby - it was quieter away from the restaurants/shops but close to everything, plus we could hear the evening lobby musical entertainment on our terrace if we chose to sit there (couldn't hear a thing with the sliding doors closed). We would definitely return!

"Return trip to Joia Bavaro"

We returned to Joia Bavaro for our 4th visit in as many years with 3 other couples. My husband and I have long been Iberostar guests in Jamaica, Mexico and the DR. We have traveled with our own kids and now, as empty nesters, with our siblings. We love this resort. It is beautifully kept and constantly being tended to. The specialty restaurants and buffets serve very fresh, flavorful food. In fact, we thought the food was the best it has ever been. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our butler, Cesar, was extremely good. There were some years that we did not really avail ourselves of the butler service (and some are definitely more helpful than others), but Cesar really assisted us in securing reservations for our group of 8 each day. The pool is lovely and the beach is well tended (thought it was a bit too windy for a few days during our stay). We typically get a cocktail prior to dinner and enjoy sitting by the bar or outside on the veranda. Most times there was soft music playing or being sung. However, this time, there were a few nights that the music was so loud and boisterous, that we couldn't even hear anyone talking. Those musicians would be better suited to the shows in the theater. One other observation was that some thoughtless people "reserved" their lounge chairs sometime during the wee hours of the night or morning. When we arrived early at 6-6:30am, there were rows that were "reserved" with towels, but the folks who used them didn't show up until almost 10am. The management needs to monitor this more to avoid a great deal of unhappy guests. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this resort.
