Adegas do Pico

A localização perto do antigo pertinho da Prainha é sem dúvida aquilo que mais gostamos, por poder ir a pé de casa dar uns mergulhos! Além disso, o balcão da casa com vista para São Jorge é outro dos pontos altos deste alojamento.

A casa tinha uma ótima vista para o mar e uma varanda muito agradável, casa com boas facilidades e espaço bem distribuído

As almofadas eram muito duras, o quarto de baixo com pouca janela

We rented two houses, one is right next to the ocean, and one is higher up with a more panoramic view. We really enjoyed the house by the ocean. It’s a basic house but well decorated. The location is unbeatable. It’s at a less touristy part of the island so very quiet.

It’s a very basic construction so we hear people walking in the kitchen when sleeping downstairs and it’s quite humid in the bedrooms as it’s right next to the ocean. But we had ACs on so not too bad.

De keuken was matig in gericht om echt goed te koken. De tafel van het terras moest worden vervangen.

Unfortunately, this was our worst stay in the Azores. While the location was excellent, the house had 2 critical issues I wish I had known about prior to the reservation. The main problem was the WiFi. The listing stated it was available but that’s not true. Initially we believed the hosts as they insisted it was mentioned on the ad, but then noticed that was not the case. When we let them know, they simply disregarded what we said and glossed over that (see screenshot of their response in the photos). Another issue was the insect infestation. We love nature, but we don’t like sleeping with the insects. The downstairs cabin smelled strongly of mold and was unusable. Ants, spiders, and even centipedes were common throughout the house, including in and around the bed, which made it really uncomfortable to relax or sleep. None of this was mentioned in the listing. When we brought up our concerns, the response from staff was dismissive (“this is just nature”), rather than apologetic and understanding. The villa lacked proper pest control and cleaning. Plus, the interactions with the hosts led us to believe that honest information on its state was deliberately inaccurate, which leaves us no other choice but to give it a 4/10 rating. The location was amazing. We were in the Farol house, right on the waterfront. We stayed during an Extreme Weather Event and the waves were intense, really fun to sit on the porch drinking port and watch.

The house had black mold. All three of us began to feel ill after the first night. Two of us are still suffering from sinus and respiratory problems. The mold is visible in many spots on the walls. The lights in one bathroom and the porch didn't work. The master bath ran out of hot water and though we complained the problem wasn't fixed (the owner suggested we couldn't figure out the hot/cold faucets). The toilet seat in the upstairs bathroom wasn't attached.

We spent 3 nights ar Casa da Vinha. It is a chrming old wine house that has been converted into a rental property. It has all the amenities you require. Great for 2 people. The management are lovely and supplied basket with bread, jam and tea Being a stone house it does get chilly but they supply a heater for the kitchen and there is some type of wood pellet burning stove in the bedroom upstairs. We did not use that. There is also an air conditioner in the bedroom. We had a lovely time there but I must advise the the house does have a musty smell I suspect that there is nothing that can be done about that. The views from the back yard are amazing
