"Horrid looking place - we inadvertently dodged a bullet"

2.0

We booked here for the night before the eclipse via Booking.com. The hotel contacted us without going through booking and informed us that they had cancelled our booking and gave us the contact details of a place that was already booked out. Booking.com were excellent in dealing with the problem and have back charged the silver spur for the price of a new hotel room. We drove past the silver spur on our way through lander. It looks pretty run down and horrid. Now reading the reviews here I would say we dodged a bullet. Stay at the Inn in Lander, spend a few extra quid - see our review - much nicer place I would say

"Among worst hotels I have ever stayed at."

2.0

The hotel did not live up to the pictures posted or the photos are very old. My room was very small and smelled like a full can of order control spray had been used in the room. The bathroom door looked like someone had put a fist through it. The bed headboard looked like many cigerettes had been put out on it. The room had a lot of dust on top of the headboard, and around the sink. No microwave or refrig. I will never stay there again. At most 1/4 or 1/2 star.

"FRONT DESK STAFF VERY HARD TO WORK WITH"

4.0

Front desk clerk insisted I pay with a card even after I told him I was paying cash. he insisted he needed a card I told him my card had no money on it I was paying with cash, insisted. I finally gave him my card and it was declined as I told him it would be. He had ran it for $74.00. I told him I was paying with cash, he insisted he needed a card to check me in. I returned to the car and got my husbands card and told him not to run it because I was paying with cash. H then accepted my cash and charged me $94.58 dollars out of the $100..00 bill I gave him. I question him and he said fees for the declined card, which I told him would not work. I was tired had been driving for 6 hours and had no other accomadations so I went to my room which was satisfactory.

"PLEASE READ! DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!"

2.0

Please believe me when I say I have NEVER written a YELP review in my life, yet after what just occurred to me I feel I MUST warn everyone I can. First off, I am disabled; part of my disability is mental faculties are not as sharp as when in my youth. Also, I harbor NO ill feelings or hatred to the individual who runs and operates this hotel. Back in either late Dec. 2016/early Jan. 2107, I was looking for a hotel down near Riverton, Wyoming....in order to book a reservation/room for Aug. 20, 2107, the night before the solar Eclipse; I had picked an area north of Riverton to view totality. I made a reservation at a hotel, and left my credit/debit card info. Cut to: just a week ago or so (Aug. 2, 2017) I wanted to make sure my reservation was still secure, but could not find ANY of my saved information. At that point, ALL I could recall was that it was located west of Riverton. Going online, I called several hotels in the area, and finally, this mid-eastern sounding man was nice enough to check to see if I had made the reservation there...he even called me back....very nice customer service. But my personal situation drastically changed this week, and I just called the hotel to cancel my reservation. The same man answered, and when I inquired about cancelling, his demeanor immediately changed 180 degrees...he became angry and surly. From what I could understand, no fault of his own due to his heavy accent, and my elderly ears, he refused to cancel, saying I had to cancel with some other service, etc....which did NOT make sense to me. I remained calm (I swear this) while his anger rose, and he then hung up on me. Now: previously I had read ALL the negative YELP reviews....even with the majority informing people of how awful their experiences were...being charged double for rooms, etc. (you can read them all yourselves...) I didn't want to believe it, and decided to give the place a chance. But when my personal situation suddenly changed and I had to cancel, I hoped it would be no problem. Yet...it was. I have had to call and cancel my debit card, etc....because I am afraid this angry Indian/Paki Person will attempt to screw me over. What I can tell you is this: I gave the man the benefit of the doubt, but within two 30 seconds of conversation with him this evening, I have witnessed first-hand how horrible his attitude is.......and if I were YOU I would steer clear of this place......trust me. And, with no malice whatsoever: PLEASE BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!!! There are MANY other places to stay in the Lander/Riverton area. This man should NOT be in customer service! He deserves ALL the bad press he gets, and should NOT be in business, especially in this country.

"Horrific."

2.0

We booked this hotel for staying in after Yellowstone as it's within a decent driving distance, once we saw it we were scared to say the least. It got worse from there. We arrived around 8:30 pm. The front door to reception was locked we had to pick up a phone to let them know we'd arrived. The manager (?) came out barefoot in sweats looking disheveled (the whole lobby smelled very strong like Indian food, I enjoy Indian so it was nice but extremely overpowering and might been unpleasant to some) he got us into our room, had me sign multiple places for waivers plus two receipts. I did not receive a copy of anything. I was given a large metal key and told my room was around the corner. Pulled up to the room (No backing in- in an empty parking lot) It took quite a bit of fiddling with both locks to get the doorknob(see mangled door &doorknob picture) it was very small and hot. We turned on the AC and a funky smell came out. Had to struggle to open the bathroom door as it isn't even with the floor. The covers were just sort of thrown on the beds. The blankets underneath were very old, rough, pilly and had cigarette burned holes (one of those waivers was no smoking) the sheets were super rough & scratch. We opted to sleep clothed on top of everything and still found a few bugs on ourselves. Just walking around the room the bottoms of our feet got dirty. There was not enough room for us and our luggage in the room. We had to pull out clothes for the next day and put the bags back in the car or we wouldn't have been able to manuever around the room. The bathroom- other than the problem opening the door- the toilet struggled to flush down a few pieces of toilet paper. It then proceeded to have a hose in tank disconnected and spray water everywhere (we repaired this) when we opened the tank it was covered in a black mold (see picture). If you looked to the left while sittin on toilet you see streaks/smudges of a brown substance on the wall. (See picture) if you look ahead you see quite a few scratches from a pet locked that n the bathroom. Another waiver I signed was no pets- see picture) to the right was a dirty bathtub that had holes that had had an attempted repair by caulk. We got out of here as quickly as possible in the morning after locking our key in the room per instructions at checkin. We looked around a bit to see the pool or BBQ area. The BBQ area had pallets forming a wall where one had fallen down and a couple chairs our of the rooms and a picnic table. The pool was an empty fenced in hole in the ground covered by a tarp. I've read reviews of charges being added after the fact so will be keeping a close eye on my card charges. I would not recommend staying here to my worst enemy.

"Looking Questionable"

2.0

We were over charged at check in by $10. The beds are small and worn out. The room smells. Black circle shapped stains in the tub. Toilet seat is broken. Questionable management. Somewhat dishonest in the upcharge as we didn't get a receipt for the charge. We get instant emails from our credit card company. The manager indicated we had to wait for two days to get the overcharge reversed. Evidently he doesn't know that his cc machine can process a credit as quickly as it can process a debit. What else can I say.... Don't charge $95 for a $35 room.

"A real dump"

2.0

I let my husband book the hotels on this trip big mistake. He booked us into this hotel and almost caused a divorce! This place is a real dive. The room stunk, it was even worse if I had the air conditioner on so I was glad we did not need it. The pillows are so old and over used you need 3 to make one pillow. Pass this place by there are lots of nicer places to stay in Lander. One good think is it is right across the street from Safeway!

"Nice motel"

8.0

Located in the heart of the 'one street town' Lander, this is a nice motel. The room is big and clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. This motel is good for low budget traveller's which are on their way to the close by National Parks.
