Silver Spur Motel

After my daughter and I got checked in and the key to our room we walked to drop our bags off so we could go grab some dinner. When we got to the room the door was open so we walked set our bags down and turned on the light. The room was older and smelled a little funky. We couldn’t get the door to stay closed or lock at all so I was very concerned about that since it was only my daughter and myself who would be staying there. I looked around and it almost seemed that maybe it was never cleaned the bed was really not made. And while we were looking at the bed a bed bug was crawling around by the pillow. There was urine all over the toilet seat and floor of the bathroom. There was also blood splatters on the wall. We may have stayed a total of 10 minutes in the room before we picked up our bags and went to the office. I told the guy at the desk what we saw showed in the pictures and video of the way our room was and asked to have our room refunded that it was filthy dirty and not safe to stay in because the door wouldn’t stay closed or lock and it opens up the outside parking lot. He guy sas very rude refused to refund our money wouldn’t give us another room. He was actually very belligerent to both my daughter and I. After trying to have a civil conversation with the guy who claimed to also be the owner of the hotel we decided to just leave the hotel and stay in the night in our car. Day 1 hot water was not hot. Had musky odor. Should have paid $20 more a 3 star.

I booked this room after a long drive, and didn't arrive until after 9PM. The night clerk, while helpful, was a bit of a creeper [not gonna go there). He put me in a room on the second floor. Nice balcony sitting area, but no lights. Zero. When I asked why, he said the lights were too bright, so he doesn't bother turning them on. Can we say "law suit waiting to happen"? Anyway, I finally got into my room. It was decent-sized and clean. No sign of vermin or creepy-crawlies (at least of the insect variety), and the bed was comfortable. The shower had adequate pressure and plenty of hot water. The wifi, however, was another story. I signed into my phone first and had no trouble, but when I went to sign in on my laptop, the connection link from my phone wasn't listed and the password provided did not work for either of the motel options listed. And make sure you bring your cell phone, because my room did not have an alarm clock. Or a hair dryer. Apparently necessities are becoming luxuries and motels are doing away with both to save a few bucks. Yet, they still charge the same (or higher) rate for the room. Go figure. Chances are I will probably never get out this way again, but if I do, I will probably never stay here again.

I showed up at 9:30pm after calling earlier that day to notify them of a late check in. I was told I got marked as a no show and my reservation was canceled, but that I would not receive a refund because I got charged a cancellation fee. Management was unbelievably rude. In the end I’m so glad I didn’t get to stay, the hotel is disgusting and not at all like the pictures.

we arrived in lander after a long drive from Colorado without having booked accommodation (yes bad idea, was not helped by no phone reception for 90% of the drive), we went to the holiday inn first where were told they were booked out and that pretty much all other hotels were also booked out gah... we managed to find WiFi and used hotels.com to find this and one other hotel available and without any other real choice we booked here. this hotel is quiet run down from the outside and upon entering the room it didn't get much better the room was a bit nicer than i expected from the outside and was clean which was good. the bed wasn't the worst i have slept on but wasn't overly comfortable. The biggest issue really came when i went to have a shower in the morning and there was no water to the shower/bath, i can look past the dated room but no water is not acceptable. I would definitely not recommend staying here if you can avoid it.

Staff tried to help with a problem we had but were ineffective. Door was not east to lock due to a slack mechanism. Cracked sink. Inadequate lighting in rooms. That said... there was ample hot water. Things worked well enough and we got a decent night's sleep. Cheap (though prices were greatly hiked for the eclipse) and tolerable.
