Friends Hostel and Apartments Budapest

No frills property and great value - and they let me have early check in!

Came to Budapest for a few days sightseeing. The hostel was on the 2nd floor of the building. When you walk into the main door the entrance hall was very worn and tiered. The lift was in good working order but very old. We arrived at 8am but you can't arrive before 9am ( not a problem as we could see coffee shops around) As we arrived the receptionist was very helpful and allowed us to store our luggage till the apartment was ready. Once we could checkin (13:30) I was suppressed with how spacious the room was. The room looked like it had been given a makeover. Bathroom and kitchen was new. The apartment was so clean we could not find fault at all. We paid very little for this room and were very surprised how large it was. You could fit 6 people easy. We had kitchen and main bedroom in one room with a bed settee and another bedroom with 2 bunk beds. Bathroom also had a washing machine. If you can e going home or travelling with a clean case. Would I stay here again. YES. The price is amazing the rooms are clean and the staff are very helpful and kind.

泊まった部屋はロフト形式でしたが、天井が高く快適でした。階段の踏み面がやや狭く、降りるときに注意を要しましたが。共同キッチンの掃除も行き届いており、清潔感がありました。立地はリスト音楽院と同じブロックでどこへ行くにも便利でした。

Layer of dust on everything. Rude/unfriendly/unhelpful staff. Very noisy from traffic and with the people in it as it’s so small - the communal area in in close proximity to all.

We stayed here for 3 nights, the hostel was okay. We had our own room with a shared bathroom. Checking in: This was not an easy process as the directions were not clear. This hostel is split over multiple floors. After we figured out we needed to be on floor one we was able to enter the property. There was no reception staff on at 3pm on a Sunday. The room: The room was good for the price, clean and simple. I found the mattress to be very thing and hard so if you struggle to sleep this isn't for you. We got a table with 2 chairs and a rail to hang clothes on. Towels are not provided. There was 2 bathrooms for 6 rooms, they were clean although the toilet seat was broken (cracked on the seat so it would pinch your legs when you got off) There is a kitchenette within the hostel which had a kettle and microwave. The con of the property was the windows are not very good if you are in room 6 you can hear the road a lot. No Aircon or a fan - the rooms get warm quickly. I would hope in summer there is a option for a fan. (It states the rules on the wall in the rooms to ensure the Aircon is turned off when you leave) Unfortunately we had a very noisy group within our stay which lead to me and other guests having to ask them to keep it down (2am). Quiet hours are 10pm - 6am I hope future guests adhere to these rules for the respect of other guests. Overall I would stay here again due to it being so cheap!

Lovely hostel in the perfect position. Incredible price and facilities. Possibly the best hostel I've ever stayed. Really recommended

When we arrived there on 19/12 (check-in day), we were faced with a completely different reality from the photos shown on the booking. The building looks abandoned, in super bad condition and very dodgy, with no security whatsoever. On entering, there was nothing like the photos, and our biggest surprise was when we saw the bathrooms, both the one where you were supposed to shower and the one that only had a toilet. As well as looking like something improvised, it was in extremely poor condition and had a nauseating smell. The shower was in a laundry room, and there was no photo of this in the booking. That said, the next day we decided to leave the place, leaving the key in the correct place and thinking that payment had already been made on the day of booking, via booking. However, the hostess was extremely rude and impolite, implying that we wanted to leave without paying and even accusing us of doing so. Then, she deleted the message and proceeded to cancel our stay saying that we never showed up, ignoring the rest of the messages, and even leaving a rather rude and sarcastic note on the booking, showing an extreme lack of character.

I had a single room with private bathroom and it was great. It was a loft type room with the bed stop some steep steps...fine for me, but some people might find it difficult to climb up or down and the loft had a low ceiling so most people will have to duck. It's a great location with great service for a good price. I would stay here again.

Loved staying at this hostel! It was clean, my dorm was quiet and it’s very central too. Budapest has so much going on that I got lost in it for 4 days, so the hostel made a great base for my stay. I also met some nice people in the city too, so I would fully recommend for anyone to stay at Friends - especially as a solo traveler, as you’ll meet plenty of people.
