Fortuna Downtown Boutique

The good: Very clean. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic. The staff was friendly. Convenient location for La Fortuna. Parking was convenient on the street. We were able to park right at the front door of the hotel both nights. The negative: Very very loud street noise made it very difficult to sleep. Room was small.

La Fortuna Downtown Boutique is on the main strip of where everything is at. Very safe and friendly.

Horrible customer service from some staff. Not all though. They argue with you after giving you a room you paid to have a pool view and it literally shows a cement wall. They tell you on booking it's 2 double beds but it ends up being 3 beds in twin size and taking up entire room. Traveler beware. See attached picture. This was a pool view room LOL They gave our 2 rooms to local costa ricans over us Americans. They argued with us too. Our second room we had to have the water fixed because it smells up the room bad.

The woman at the front desk was very unpleasant at check-in. She was aggressive and rude. We had two rooms, both were riddled with issues. The toilet in one room wouldn't work and the sink in the other room was leaking water all over the bathroom floor. When we tried letting the front desk know, she told my parents to stop using the toilet if it wouldn't work. Neither room could get the WiFi to work. Neither TV worked at all. The room we stayed in would not deadbolt lock and the door had a large gap at the top and bottom of the door. My husband found that it was because the top of the door frame was loose from the wall. Our room was booked for 3 people (2 adults and 1 child) and we only received 2 towels. When my husband went to the front desk to ask, the woman told him no more towels until we brought down 2 dirty ones. There are no phones in the rooms and no elevators so he had to walk up and down three flights of stairs to try to talk to her. Before you are allowed to leave the property housekeeping goes into your room and does a full inspection to make sure you didn't take anything. Because there was someone in front of us checking out, this process took about an hour.

Really loved this charming hotel. Everyone was very nice, easy access to everything. Loud in the morning from traffic, but we would stay again.

This place is showing its age a bit but given the great staff, it’s easy to let that go. It’s located right downtown La Fortuna so easy walk to restaurants. We had a car so also easy access to planned activities. Parking was nearby and secure. If you are expecting a high end hotel, then this might not do for you, but it you want clean, simple accommodation with a nice breakfast and kind staff, then you are golden.

Really great place to stay in La Fortuna, the breakfast is hosted in the attached restaurant and is delicious; lots of fresh fruit, traditional CR food. What I will say, is that there is a swimming pool but it’s right next to the restaurant so it’s not private at all. They gave us parking in a very safe lot which was great.

No closet or hooks to hang clothes and bath towels. Pillows were too high. Shower faucets were labeled wrong. Street noise.

Had a great stay here in La Fortuna! It was in a great location with lots of restaurants around. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. I would say it was good value for money.
