Exterior view of the hotel and surroundings is simply WOW. The entrance road and approach to the main hotel building is remarkable. Hotel building seem to have been recently refurbished. All the facilities are tidy.

Getting to your room from reception can feel like getting through a maze. Instructions boards are not very clear and informative. There is no staff at service to help reach your room. Receptionist is happy to repeat the directions but they forget that not every guest might have an elephant's memory. Breakfast was disappointing. Almost nothing felt fresh or delicious. We expected better from such an expensive property. For us the most surprising part was an ask of GBP 10 per hour if we check out after 11am. Never hear of such a charge before in any of my stays around the globe.

There is a lot to like. The approach is stunning. The building is spectacular. The swimming pool area and staff were fantastic. The bedroom was large and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The view (tree and brick wall) were actually completely to my taste and made me smile. Breakfast was extensive and a mix of buffet and order fresh. The old building part was charismatic. Plenty of parking and space in the bar and restaurant. All staff we met were friendly and professional. Staying here had the wow factor.

Our stay was quite expensive so our expectations were high, thus little niggles had a greater impact, although few and far between. There were no glasses in the room and the tea tray was basic with only English breakfast tea and coffee. In our room the towel rail didn't work. Would have been nice to have a smart tv. Food in the bar was excessively expensive (£22 for a burger) so we didn't eat here. Only little niggles.
