The Conigre

Booked one of the rooms for the 6-night stay as the duration of a business training course, was pleasantly surprised to find it had everything I required and more. Great location within a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping area yet far enough to retain a quiet calm providing a great night's sleep. Mine was not part of the main building, so benefited from own front door straight onto the parking area which was fantastic for access to vehicle. Good sized TV, decent fridge and microwave allowed for a real 'home from home' experience where I was happy to chill out when not exploring the local area which has some great food offerings - especially the Malaysian restaurant/take away located in the nearest public house . The Conigre had a great, helpful host who interacted as much or as little as you wished and was more than happy to accommodate any requests. Room was bright, clean, large (yet cozy) and I really got the impression a lot of care had gone into making this such a lovely setting, both inside and out. I for one would hope to return on any occasion I am in that area in the future, thank you very much to Andy (the host).

Stayed in Room 8. Close proximity to where I work when down from North Wales to Melksham so I chose The Conigre because I could walk to the office. Haven’t been able to do that since I was about 18 😂 Room was very clean but maybe a little bit tired and dated in terms of decor. Heated flooring in the bathroom was amazing so was the corner bath. Plug in the bath needs a little attention as it pops out! Bed was really comfy with lovely clean bedding, duvet and comfy pillows. On night 3 I realised it was actually 2 single beds put together as they had slipped apart a bit after 2 nights but as a single traveller it didn’t really create too much of a problem

If you check your facilities once booked and what’s included in your stay it’s really confusing. I knew from the price I paid compared to the other room rates that I would probably not have a self contained room BUT when you look it still states bathrobes, minibar, kitchen utensils, fridge, microwave, breakfast included etc. the list is quite long. I didn’t have any of those items. I don’t do breakfast but I’d read reviews about the quality of the poached eggs so thought I may indulge! Assumed there was a breakfast room. There’s nothing in the welcome pack about breakfast so also assumed that the basket in my room on arrival was breakfast for my stay which had a some mini cereal boxes and individual breakfast biscuits, which I don’t eat, and if I did there was only little containers of UHT, it wouldn’t have worked. I’m just saying because there’s no indication in the welcome pack that you could have anything else? It wasn’t till my last morning that I was asked if I wanted breakfast. The owner/manager was lovely and introduced himself on my last morning but only at that point BUT I’d been out of the room working for the previous 2 days so maybe missed him. I’m only mentioning this for feedback as it’s a beautiful place and the little issues I had were resolved so quickly; rubbish from a previous nights take out due to late arrival and needed a hairdryer for the morning when I arrived. Just needs a few tweaks
