had lunch which was lovely and a really good portion, breakfast was also very generous with the portions. hotel in great position as when we returned it was dark and you could stand outside with no light pollution and we had a really clear night.

the building looks very tired, the room was smaller than I thought it would be but that's just me, shower was old and the shower head would not stay up. The main point for me was that at 06.30 the fire alarm went off, fair enough as could be real, turns out it wasn't ,but.. no one came to check on anyone to see if all guests had come outside, did not see any member of staff, some bloke came after half an hour (we were all freezing as came straight outside ) ran inside and eventually the alarm went off, no one came so we all went back on our own accord, then it went off two more times but all guests ignored it. Someone came after half an hour and apologised, but that was it.

"Ok but probably wouldn’t return to stay but would return for food."

Location good, food very good breakfast and evening meal.

Bed uncomfortable. New mattress would be much better . Room needed updating , paint chipped etc. housekeeping replaced water and towels but left bed and empty wine glasses ?.

Really pleasantly surprised! The room was compact but very clean, comfortable, attractive and contains everything you'd need for a short stay. T?he bed was so comfortable we overslept! Beware the step into the room. (it might be worth mentioning at check-in!) The BEST breakfast I've had in a B&B or hotel. Top quality ingredients, thoughtful, fresh & so very filling. We were about to make the return trip back to Cornwall so opted for the full breakfast, it was huge but so tasty we just kept eating!

The check-in process was a bit haphazard after a long drive!
