We were met at the door by the owner, who then made us drinks and told us all about the area and seemed to be an expert on Hadrian’s Wall. The room was excellent and the food was even better. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Host was really brilliant. The only thing I have against the stay was the plastic mattress cover which made us even hotter in the heat wave.
Absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean rooms. Lois and David are wonderful hosts, made us feel really welcome and breakfast was brilliant ( I recommend the porridge ) Probably the best b&b I have ever stayed in, nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be going back. I was working in the area and needed an overnight stay. This was a little gem to find. The owners are so friendly and helpful . . . .nothing is too much trouble. It is located in a beautiful area and there was an excellent range of restaurants nearby.
Excellent room and hosts. Beautiful location by river and close to attractions. We visited Hadrian's Wall in the snow.
This was a break after Christmas and other pressures. An excellent place with plenty of good places to eat. We would definitely book Shaftoes again if we are going to be in the area.
