This hotel was really welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Local knowledge was brilliant. Our vegan breakfasts were great. We would definitely recommend to anyone.

"Wonderful B&B close to Hadrian's Wall"

10.0

Lois and David were great! We arrived on a very rainy evening after encountering very bad traffic due to bad accidents. They welcomed us in with offers of coffee and tea and got us settled. They called a local restaurant and confirmed they had a table and we had one of the loveliest dinners of our trip. Just a quick walk over the bridge. Our room was perfect and very spacious. The en-suite met our needs perfectly and was very spacious. There was a kettle for tea. A TV (which we didn't use). Plenty of outlets to recharge all of our electronics. The B&B also has free parking which was a big help as well. Breakfast was cooked to order (you fill out a form and place it in the kitchen prior o 10pm). Lois and David are very knowledgeable about Hadrian's Wall. We didn't end up seeing the wall as it was very rainy and they even recommended to skip it. I would highly recommend Shaftoe's!

"Great Hotel in centre of large village"

10.0

Everything in Shaftoes have been done to a very high standard. Dave could not have done more to make our stay better. Recommends eating places, booked a table and sorted out a menu for us that suited our taste. Verry good knowledge of local places to visit.

"Shaftoe's B&B"

10.0

A half way stop driving back from Orkney and West Scotland to Essex. A large and very comfortable room. Friendly host and excellent cooked breakfast. Plenty of choice on where to eat in the evening. Would be a good base for visiting Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda, which we'll be back to do at some time.

"Great hosts"

8.0

what made the stay way above average was David and Lois.... friendly and very helpful with plans for the wall and for meals. Room comfortable, bed a bit hard for our tastes. Location good for visiting the wall, Feels a bit crammed into business street but we did get parking in front.

"Lovely owners who are superbly welcoming"

10.0

My husband and I were staying here for two nights whilst we completed a 14km charity walk along Hadrian's Wall in May. We were driving up from London on a Saturday night so arrived about 1am. Dave stayed up until then, well beyond the check-in deadline, to make sure we were able to get in after arriving and allowed us to do the paper work later the next day so that we could rest up. The breakfasts were superb, everything you could possibly want. They were both just so welcoming and caring and full of advice and tips. The room was lovely and cosy, and a good standard. I can't recommend it enough if you are sight seeing in the area. Space for parking up front and several restaurants and pubs in the area. Dave also allowed me to stay in the lounge for the morning with a cup of hot tea after checkout, as I was unwell and my husband had to pop out for a while. We were very well taken care of!
