"not bad"

6.0

Hotel pretty close to Flores - 10 minute walk down the causeway. Close to banks and shops. Room was clean but "hot" shower was anything but. Hotel staff were pleasant but need a few English lessons. Nice courtyard with flowers.

"Great Hotel for less than 50 bucks a night"

8.0

Great hotel for the price and we would stay there again. It included a light breakfast and it's only a mile to Isla Flores, which was a great place to hang-out. The hotel staff helped book a couple of side trips and everything went smoothly.

"Average Hotel in Santa Elena"

6.0

No hot water in our room, although there was hot water in other rooms. Took lots of prodding of personnel to solve problem. Generally personnel did not follow through on each step without additional prodding.

Very nice hotel, close to the island of Flores. It covers all the basic needs, plus secure parking, wi-fi and a small pool.

"Easy to get to Tikal."

8.0

Our room was over the restaurant/bar/pool area. One night there was a group of people in the pool and pool area until @ 1 a.m. Most hotels have "quiet hours" - but didn't even see staff that late to monitor the noise. Otherwise, the breakfast was simple but good. We don't speak Spanish very well, nor did the staff speak any English. They did make arrangements for us to have transportation, tour, and lunch with an English speaking guide to Tikal. He was great!

""Great Hotel for a Family""

8.0

Overall our experience with this hotel was great. Service was excellent and they offer tour packages, which made it easier for a newcomer. They have a pool which was excellent because the weather in Santa Elena and surrounding areas is HOT. Room service was excellent as well.

"Good"

6.0

The people at Mayaland Plaza are all very attentive and helpfull even with a slight language barrier with most of the staff. It's amazing how far a smile and good manners gets you.' Carla' on the desk (she seemed to be there and everywhere else) was very pleasant and helpful and the guys at the bar and breakfast were also very good. My only criticism really was that there was a lot of banging and hammering at 7am because the hotel had work men on the roof right above our room. We mentioned this though and they had a word with them to delay it until we were actually up and out of the hotel... So despite a few "Fawlty Towers" moments our stay was fine. The pool was good!

"Mayaland Plaza"

10.0

I am a woman travelling solo on my way to the Tikal Ruins and stayed at the Mayaland Plaza hotel. After many hours of travel, I arrived at the hotel, and it was uplifting to discover the open courtyard with its lush colors of the bouganvilla and be greeted warmly. Hotel staff were all very courteous and helpful. I do not speak Spanish and was delighted to have assistance from the hotel in booking transport for early morning the following day to Tikal. The hotel location is only a ten minute walk over the causeway to Flores where there are myriad restaurants, gift shops, hotels etc. I actually enjoyed being a little removed and had great fun riding back and forth in the tuk-tuks which are cheaper than the taxis - I only paid $1-1.50 including a tip which was not expected. A full breakfast was included in my hotel rate which was very reasonable. I enjoyed my airconditioned room and had a small balcony which allowed a breeze to flow in when the aircondition was off. The pool is attractive, but small, and added to the ambience. I have fond memories of the staff and appreciated their enthusiam to ensure comfort. I stayed there again after three days in Tikal and was very content. Please note this is a small hotel, as most hotels are in Flores and this area so one should not expect a Le Meridien or Marriott experience - though one certainly can expect a more personal approach.

"excellet price quality deal in Flores"

8.0

It is not on the island, but very conveniently located, two blocks from the bridge, close to bus depot. Nicely landscaped, the courtyard gives a warm feeling to the hotel although the rooms are somwhat sparse. Staff is most cooperative, breakfast was included since we paid cash. Can't be beat for price-quality.
