Sunset Resort - Adults Only

Beautiful spot, very cosy rooms and great amenities. Doesn’t feel overpacked, very quiet and ideal for a break. The staff is just too star, very professional and super friendly and helpful. Definitely a place to recommend

The staff were exceptionally helpful, and it's great having two pools, with easy access to bars & cocktails etc. The beach was lovely. Everything was very clean, and the gardens were nice too. It's really hard to find fault with anything. You need to pay (a little) towards wi-fi but that's true for th vast majority of places on the whole island. In general, I have nothing but praise for this resort.

We three ladies had a lovely peaceful stay at Sunset Resort. Our 2 bedroom suite was spacious, clean and well-equipped, with great air-con. Two pools, always sparkling clean, and wow what a stunning beach/lagoon area (plenty of sun-loungers scattered amongst the palm trees). Convenient location for car hire, a few restaurants nearby, bus stop outside, 10 minutes from airport. All staff we met were super friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was simple but more than enough (fruits, cereals, toast, juice, tea, coffee).. If I return to Rarotonga, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. West Coast location gives the best sunsets!

I must have looked at all the different accommodation types in Rarotonga and thought I had it down when I booked at The Edgewater last September for a February trip. They had 2 single beds in the one room. To keep costs down we wanted to share a room. This trip was a belated 50th Birthday celebration for a good friend of mine so separate beds were a must. Much too old to share a bed at 50. However in the time since we had booked they had decided to close the main pool to re tile it and provide a stand up pool with ladder to climb up and into the pool. This was not going to work for my friend who needed to be able to walk into the pool easily. So we were on the hunt again for accommodation again with two beds. Sadly, most of the accommodation places are set up for king or queen beds in the one room. I was lucky to stumble upon The Sunset resort in a facebook Rarotonga group I joined. They got a lot of positive reviews and mentions. When looking up Sunset resort the photos looked amazing. Not 1 but 2 swimming pools. One of those being a pool with bar attached for happy hour called The Bird Cage (The cocktails are amazing). What was even better was this resort is 12+ so no children running around and making noise. Our room was a garden room beside the pool and looked exactly like the photos. The room are large with lots of space to move around in. The air con was a amazing and good at cooling the room down. There is a restaurant on-site and continental breakfasts are included, a great way to start your day and catch up with others who are staying. The restaurant holds theme nights eg. Sunday night is roast night. You can also order off a bar menu if you like. The resort has an amazing beach front with gorgeous views. One night we took our cocktails down there to sit and watch the sunset. It has plenty of hammocks, seats and sun loungers to relax in. The breeze is also so nice down there. I may have fallen asleep a couple of times in the hammock that is how relaxing it is listening to the water. Resort staff are all amazing and friendly very happy to engage in chatting with you. Greeted with a nice smile and a Kia Orana. Beautiful gardens throughout the resort and amazing flowers to stop and smell. There is a free 1 way transfer to the market on Saturday and a free return transfer to a church service on Sunday. There is a bus stop right outside the resort so getting around the island without a car is not a problem. They also have parking spaces for cars, bikes and scooters.

My husband and I stayed at the Sunset Resort for 6 nights and rate it 10/10. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming and nothing is a hassle. It’s a resort that has literally everything, the beautiful beach, stunning sunsets, restaurant bars and two pools. We have been to Rarotonga a few times and this is now our favourite spot. Highly recommend

This is our 4th time staying at the Sunset Resort and was as good as always. The place is extremely well maintained, clean and quiet. The staff are fantastic. We will be back again

One of the few places you can stay in Rarotonga for less than 3 nights (but in a poolside/garden view room only). The beachfront rooms have great views and the beach is good for snorkelling. We enjoyed the bird cage swim-up bar and the atmosphere of the whole resort. Staff are friendly and helpful, and self-serve washing facilities are free to use (note there's no facilities to hang clothes but there are dryers with tokens for NZ$2 each). There is a restaurant on-site and continental breakfasts are included. There are also several other restaurants within walking distance. Would recommend this resort to anyone thinking of going to Rarotonga.

We had a wonderfully relaxing 11 nights at Sunset Resort in January 2024. We had a studio beachfront unit which gave us a beautiful view across the lagoon. The room was quiet, bed very comfortable and air con very effective. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries.The staff were welcoming & friendly and went out of their way to help us. The pools were great and being able to swim and snorkel right out from the resort was very convenient. Breakfasts were good and there were a number of excellent restaurants within walking distance. Hope to go back.
