Licuala Lodge

We spent 4 nights at Licuala Lodge and it is in a terrific location. We saw two Cassawarys in the Forrest behind their pool, on the property. It has a gorgeous garden, very peaceful spot with lovely hosts that can't do enough to help. Beautiful breakfast on the balcony in the morning, overlooking the lovely garden and listening to bird song.

The gardens of the accommodation were really nice and the best bit about staying were the cassowary's that ambled through the gardens on both morning (very early!) so this was very special. The rooms were very clean and tidy overall, its a nice place to stay but needs some more love and attention

Reading the previous reviews we were expecting a lot however there are a number of things that did not live up to the huge expectation as follows: The bedrooms whilst OK had very, very thin walls and our son and his fiance had huge issues on the first night as the couple in the next door room were very noisy to such an extent that they got little sleep, we could also here every word they said though our adjoining wall. In addition the fridge in the room was very noisy all night and so we ended up having to unplug it. Luckily the room was not let the second night. From the other reviews we were expecting a special breakfast however this was somewhat disappointing, there was a bread for toast, a small bowl of fruit with a small amount of yogurt, on the first day a nice glass of orange juice (but totally absent on the second day) and then a couple of cereals and a small amount of banana bread. At an additional cost of 9 dollars you could ask for an egg which seemed a bit steep so we skipped that. So overall this was disappointing compared to the reviews online for other stays The overall feel is that the place is being run down a little maybe with some cost cutting going on possibly because the owners are trying to sell the property We were also unclear why they needed to take credit card details when we had already paid for the property and the only extra costs would possibly be an egg in the morning! Overall if we had not seen the cassowary's we would have scored the property down to a 3 given the issues on bedroom noise and the breakfast.

Fabulous helpful hosts Guilleme and Jonny. Beautiful location, great facilities and breakfast with home cooked bread. The gardens are magnificent and so are the beaches nearby.

We stayed at Licuala Lodge in Mission Beach for two nights and chose it on purpose away from the beach. We were looking for a quiet place with a beautiful garden and less tourist traffic – and it was exactly the right choice. The lodge is fantastic: a lovely tropical garden, a great pool, and lots of wildlife around. It feels very peaceful and close to nature, yet still comfortable. What really made our stay special were the hosts Guilleme and John. They are incredibly friendly, helpful, and clearly care a lot about their guests. Breakfast was excellent and prepared with great attention to detail. All in all, a wonderful stay. Thank you!! We would definitely stay here again.
