Was not my first time here. As usual hospitality was great. Mook, Kik, Pingping, Fa, Gift, Bam, Giftzy, Pat, Omelette and Pookie gave us a great breakfast service every morning. Attention was prompt. Alice, Oaky, Rainy and Sun were great with my kids at Kids Club. Very patient and they looked forward to Board Games every night! Lastly the F&B director (forgot his Russian Name) was sensitive to our request. My kids love the amenties in the room and we asked if we can purchase it, hearing this, he gave housekeeping a call and pass the amenities to us just before we board the cab to the airport. Such a wonderful gesture that i appreciate from a hotelier of this reputation as I also come from a service industry. My trip this time was surprisingly better than the first! My family had a wonderful time. @Matriott, your people are your assets! Pls take care of them!

When you stay at a big resort in a place overrun with tourists, it is unrealistic to expect perfection. Moving large volumes of guests in and out of the resort while maintaining the rooms and facilities is a challenge. The management seems to have found a winning formula that accomplishes this. The resort is 26 years old, taken over and renovated by Marriott 10 years ago. Nothing in the resort gives away its age except for maybe the swimming pools but they were kept immaculately clean and my guess is they will be renovated soon. Every single staff member we encountered from Cindy at check in, to Oatmilk at check out, greeted us with big, genuine smiles and did everything possible to be friendly and helpful. As a Platinum Elite, we were upgraded to a larger room with a nice view, given free breakfast for 2 each day and given a 10% discount on other food and spa services. Also sweet treats, a passport cover, a scarf and an eye mask were waiting in the room with a note thanking me for my loyalty. The room had super comfortable beds, a balcony, a tea kettle, robes, slippers and flip flops (a very nice touch for a resort). The bathroom had a rainforest shower, a separate free standing tub, a bidet and a drawer filled with toiletries and bath salts. Housekeeping was excellent and consistent. Each of our 3 days, the room was made up while we ate breakfast with the same meticulous detail each day. We experienced each of the 4 restaurant venues and the ice cream parlor. We enjoyed some of the food while felt a little disappointed by some. As a rule, local dishes were very good. Things we are accustomed to at home were not very good. This is not a big surprise and did not affect enjoyment of our holiday. We saw an advertisement for a couples massage and decided to take advantage on a rainy day. We made it clear we were there for the couples massage they advertised. They gave us several options for the massage. We both enjoyed it but afterward were a little shocked to find the bill double what was advertised. When I questioned it, I was told that the advertised special was only good for one of the options but we chose a different one. This left me with a feeling they were being dishonest and they should have communicated this before we began. In spite of a couple of disappointments, we overall had a wonderful, relaxing stay and give them 5 stars for the many more positives than negatives.

Good and very clean facilities, good variety of activities. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice swimming pools, catering for all ages.

Lack of Western food choices. Double bed was uncomfortable, it was hollowed out on both sides of the bed with a ridge in the middle.

We had a fantastic dinner at the Chang Thai restaurant at the Marriott Resort and Spa Merlin Beach. Food was delicious and staff were excellent. Many thanks to staff Marina, Bew, Pream and Golf for making the celebration of my wife’s birthday a special evening.
