"Relaxing and great for couples"

10.0

A large complex set by the sea with access to lovely beaches. No shortage of facilities and easy access to food and drinks throughout the day & evening. Also a choice of pools. I am here with my wife and we are having a lovely relaxing holiday, it was difficult to find our way around on the 1st day with no signage and the small map we were given was difficult to follow but it soon comes together. A short taxi journey into Sisi was nice, which is full of restaurants, bars and shops with a charming feel to it especially by the harbour. We both booked a couple of treatments each at the Aegeo spa which was a very relaxing experience. I particularly enjoyed the men's facial with therapist Chrysa who was very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. I felt completely at ease. There is entertainment and activities on during the day and evening both for adults and children and the team did a great job but was difficult to be involved or follow due to none of the presentation being in English. Overall we are having a lovely relaxed holiday in a beautiful setting and I would recommend.

"Relaxing"

8.0

We have just spent a week at this hotel. Firstly all the staff and all the Greek we met were so incredibly friendly and kind I’ll never go back to Spain I’ll always come to Greece! Our flight out was delayed meaning by the time we arrived at the hotel their restaurant was closed however they had plates of sandwiches and crisps ready for us with bottled water this was very much appreciated nowhere we have ever stayed has done this before and I wished they did! Our first day was spent trying to get our bearings of the place but this was difficult because it’s a huge place and there are no sign posts directing where things are or what they are it’s not clear which is the pool bar/beech bar as they’re literally next to each other! We never found the Thalassa bar! There are lots of sports activities but to find the information to book was hard we asked the owner of the sports shop opposite the tennis and football pitch and not even he could tell us how to book some of them so the hotel really needs to do better here. We found the closing of the pool and bars at 6pm very strange the sun was still shining and hot at this time to close the main activity everyone wanted at 6 along with where to get drinks and snacks a massive disappointment but of course this is geared for all guests to use the only restaurant open which is the main hotel one and a mass catering buffet style place which I don’t like these. This meant everyone went there every night we tried it but it’s not a relaxing environment it’s full of people barging you out the way snatching things, kids not looking where they’re going and adults knocking into you! I had to queue TWICE to get a plate I waited 15 minutes!! I was barged out the way by the Germans on my first time queuing they did this often in the shops as well they were so rude, the resort is geared up to the Germans and they knew this and felt entitled to be rude. The food seen as its mass produced was ok but struggling to find a table then waiting for plates then waiting for food to be replenished was far from relaxing! It’s also expensive for what we wanted which was a light meal it was 30 euros each which as I only could get a feta salad as all the hot food was gone is expensive our son was only able to get one tiny slice of pizza the rest all being snatched whilst he was trying to serve himself! We went out to eat in Sissi we would strongly recommend you do this instead the people and food are lovely especially Oliva’s Steakhouse! The other thing I want noted is the spa, we went there to book some treatments for me whilst the boys played sports, the lady Mattera? Explained the treatments and let me test some products as I have sensitive skin, I booked three treatments at a whopping cost of 430 euros that’s with a discount! I had booked two at 2 hours and one at 1 hour. My first visit I was kept waiting for 15 mins, when you’re told to arrive 5 minutes early! After the treatment you’re asked to fill out a questionnaire they then stand over you whilst you do this which is intimidating, at no point did my sessions last for the time I booked! The last one I booked was the Cretan Massage it was supposed to be for 70 minutes I arrived at 5:30 you have to undress etc and I was out the spa by 6:20!! So I didn’t even get an hour never mind the 70 minutes we had paid a lot of money for! After each treatment they try to get you to spend more money by telling you you need this treatment or skin product it felt the 430 euros we spent wasn’t enough for them! After the second treatment they again said I needed the anti aging facial! I said I had wanted that one when I was booking but the therapist advised against it as I had sensitive skin the therapist didn’t seem pleased I wasn’t buying! Overall a nice place but a lot needs to be done to improve upon it and make it excellent given it’s not a cheap place to stay at!

"Best family hotel in Crete"

10.0

This is our fourth consecutive year at Kalimera Kriti. Kalimera is absolutely great for families with children (mini club, mini disco, sports), senior citizens, and tennis/padel lovers. The staff is fantastic, the food is diverse and fresh, the pools are clean and not overcrowded, and the beaches are sandy and well-maintained. This year, visible renovations of rooms and other facilities took place. On a separate note, I would like to mention the tennis/padel facilities. These are world-class tennis courts! Professional coaches are available, and this year they are also running mini tournaments every Friday. I should note that this year there is also much better organized communication between the players and the tennis crew. Thanks a lot to everyone, and we look forward to coming back next year!♥️

"Great all round resort"

8.0

Huge resort that caters for those that want to relax and those that want to be more active at the same time. Plus points.. 1: Pool options are great - huge family pool, kids only pool, adult only pool and an inside pool. 2. Sports facilities are amazing, plenty of good clay tennis courts (about €20 for an hour from memory) although the artificial grass ones on the other side of the resort seemed to be unlocked so assume these are free to use if you have your own rackets, paddle courts, table tennis (free), football pitch (free), crazy golf (free) and beach volley ball nets (free) all available. 3; Spa - Extensive options available which my wife utilised and enjoyed although my credit cards says the opposite 4: Relaxing - always found a lounger around the pool and plenty on the beach too 5: Two lovely beaches, thin one and traditional one both private to the resort 6: Pool bar and beach bar offer good selection of drinks and have a small selection of snacks too 7: Resort is like a mini village, very picturesque with rooms like mini bungalows, ours had two rooms - a living room and a bedroom, small hallway and a bathroom as well as an outside seating area meaning we didn’t feel crammed in. Down sides: 1: Food - The resort is geared to full board customers meaning the only food options after 6pm is the main restaurant which although good, is hit and miss with regards to the ‘experience’ as it is catering for so many people at the same time. Had to wait for plates a few times. If you just wanted a little snack it is therefore expensive - would be better if the other resort restaurant was available in the evening and not just for a few hours in the afternoon for those that want a more typical meal. We ended up getting a taxi into Sissi a few evening where there are plenty of restaurants. (Taxi is €7 euros) - Olivers Steakhouse was amazing - highly recommend. 2: The pools close at 6pm, this is obviously to Round the heard up ready for the evening dinner and subsequent entertainment. 3: The evening entertainment at the main bar each evening (after the endless kids songs) felt like a pheonix night sketch with more sequins on show than an 80s cruise ship - having said that most of the German and other European customers seemed to be enjoying it so maybe thats why us English don’t do well in the Eurovision song contest or we are just miserable 🤔 Would have been nice to have the option to enjoy a drink without reliving a family wedding each evening but hey ho. 4: Signage: seems like a minor thing but the resort is large and non of the restaurants, bars or building have any signage so its hard to get your baring initially based on a little paper map given when you arrive. All in all this is an amazing resort with the hotel staff making it something special. Our flight was delayed and we arrived late on our first night yet we were given some complementary sandwiches in case we were hungry - these sorts of details do not go unnoticed and are very much appreciated.
