The Grand, York

El hotel tiene una ubicación excelente y un edificio histórico muy bonito, pero mi experiencia ha sido decepcionante. Ante un problema con la reserva, el hotel no mostró ninguna flexibilidad ni ofreció ninguna solución razonable, ni devolución parcial ni ningún gesto de atención al cliente. Además, el spa estaba extremadamente saturado. Después de pagar por el acceso, no había ni una sola hamaca libre junto a las piscinas para poder relajarse. La habitación también presentaba aspectos mejorables: las ventanas estaban visiblemente sucias y el lavabo tardaba mucho en desaguar. En conjunto, considero que la relación calidad-precio no estuvo a la altura de lo esperado para un hotel de esta categoría.

We had an amazing stay at The Grand York and would happily return. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our visit, making us feel genuinely well looked after. The spa was a real highlight of our stay and provided exactly the relaxing experience we were hoping for. The hotel itself is beautiful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our break. The only small observation we would make is that there was a guest at a nearby breakfast table running a work meeting on a laptop. As we had chosen the hotel for a peaceful getaway, it slightly detracted from the calm atmosphere we were expecting in the dining room. Aside from that, everything was excellent. Thank you to the whole team for their outstanding hospitality - we look forward to visiting again.

We stayed at The Grand for 3 nights in May to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The staff, location and room could not be faulted. A nice touch was the chocolates left in our room on the day of our anniversary accompanied by a card signed by two of the receptionists, making our stay even more memorable.

The location of the hotel was very good, within walking distance of both the station and the main attractions of the city. Very comfortable bed, in a spacious room with high-quality fittings. Very good breakfast, with a wide choice of dishes. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a high quality experience.

Two very small things. The bathroom taps were of an innovative design, and it was quite hard to get any cold water from them! Secondly, when we arrived, there was a welcome tray in the room with tea-making facilities and a jug of fresh milk, but when we asked for replacement milk later, plastic containers of UHT milk arrived: UHT milk should have no place in a hotel of this quality.

+ Room was lovely and spacious with a glorious bathroom and separate toilet + The building is truly grand with many original features + Staff are clearly well trained and very good at their welcomings and general helpfulness + Spa area has great features such as a Himalayan salt rock sauna and chill out sauna, plus 2 steam rooms with different scents. The bathing area ( not a swimming pool anymore ) is relaxing space to explore between saunas. + The Room Service food was pretty good ( we had Thai style salmon and pad thai vegetarian, plus Vietnamese starters ). + The bar in the spa area was really fun and we enjoyed some excellent prosecco in there, served very professionally by the young chap working there. + The InRoom coffee maker was good. + The comfy chairs and table made for excellent dining experience

- Having to pay 30UKPounds extra per person ( so 60 in total ) per spa session on top of the room rate seems quite steep, but I understand the space is limited and not everyone wants to use the spa. We found 90minutes wasn't even enough time to really chill there in the end either. - The Spa: Having only one communal shower for the 'between saunas and steams' seemed surprisingly minimal... often having to wait to use it.
