"Was adequate if a little overpriced but the location was lovely"

6.0

Breakfast was not provided. Would have been nice to have coffee, tea, milk provided rather than to have to go shopping

Laundry was very dirty & floor was wet & a mess. Would have been good to have one folder containing instructions for cook top, air conditioners etc.

"Cottage d'epoca abbastanza ben ristrutturato in zona tranquilla"

8.0

Lenzuola e asciugamani puliti.

Alcuni aspetti della casa andrebbero meglio sistemati perché un po' datati (porte, alcune parti del bagno e alcune finestre) e tenuti più puliti (teglie del forno, finestre, divani, ragnatele).

"Base for exploring Brighton"

8.0

Convenience - close to Hassock Station where we could park free with blue badge and go for days in Brighton. Loads of power sockets

Feels slightly run down and dated. Little things like the shower being loose at the wall and the control dials not matching the description - off = power for example. No instructions for the hob - we worked out how to heat up 1 hob plate but then couldn't work out how to turn it off so had to switch it off at the main plug. Numerous cobwebs but perhaps the spiders work quickly after a clean through. Not that these things should detract from Tovey Lodge being a great little base (it is small) for a cost concious break in Brighton.

"Good"

6.0

Difficulty in finding property. Needs sign at entrance. Very dangerous exiting drive onto lane. Needs a mirror opposite to show lane both ways. Lodge and rooms very small. Trip switch overloads if you use kettle and use cooker same time. However, my tel contact and personal contact with the gentleman owner was very convivial.

"Perfectly located in the countryside, but aspects of the property needs some updating and TLC."

5.0

The location was amazing, and to able to bring our dog was a bonus. Inside the property it was tidy and had everything you needed for a self catering stay. It was lovely and quiet and off the beaten track, which I personally love. There was plenty of hot water, and in the summer months the outside area I imagine would be a lovely area to entertain. The hosts were helpful when we spoke over the phone.

It was cold and smelled as if it had not been used in a while. I found the air conditioning heater not very affective and our first night we spent there was very cold indeed. There was a small electric heater we found in a cupboard, and that helped enormously. It was dark when we arrived, but when we went outside in the morning we saw there was dog mess in the garden and outside the properties fence. The fence was broken near the back gate, so wasn't dog proofed. The oven and hob was very old and you cannot read the settings, and the shelving in the oven was broken.

"Ideal as a romantic getaway for 2 in the summer; a little cramped for 4 for more than a few days."

7.0

The cottage is lovely. With two children (13 and 11) it was a little cramped, but for two nights, it was fine. I imagine for a couple on their own it would be ideal and quite romantic. I don't want to be unduly negative. I love the countryside around East and West Sussex. The kids enjoyed the adventure of making up and unmaking their beds each morning/evening. As I said, for a couple in summer, I think it would be lovely.

We found the building cold, and I am guessing there is no wall insulation. It only really began to feel comfortable towards our second evening. Until then, we had been sitting in coats and scarves for much of the time. The flagstones in the kitchen and bathroom remained cold underfoot throughout, to the extent that we were wearing double layers of socks (it was a short trip, and luggage space was at a premium, so we had not bought slippers). The bathroom could really do with another floor mat so there is one by the sink and another by the bath/toilet. We did find a towel under the sink, but it was wet. We weren't sure if it was there to mop up a leak or if it had been left there accidentally from an earlier visit, so thought it best to leave it in place. We could not figure out how to make the shower function properly at all. All we ever got was tepid water with no water pressure, which meant we had to dunk our heads beneath the bath taps (which worked fine) to wash our hair. Perhaps we were just being a bit dim. But if we were, others might also be, so maybe some instructions on how to use the shower would help. And if we weren't being dim, it needs fixing.
