"Loved Brixham and friendliness"

Generally I enjoyed staying at the Quayside hotel. Views from the restaurant great overlooking the harbour. Unfortunately my room which was a single had no view. It had an inside view of what looked like a huge greenhouse and so was quite dark. Also the duvet was full winter weight which made it difficult to sleep. All the staff were great, cleaners, restaurant and reception. The food was pretty good.ff

Pros were Excellent food and friendly staff. Cons were internet signal very weak so unable to use in room. A long way from hotel to the car park. No lift in hotel so had to climb 3 flights of stairs

A man came into my room using a key, at 11pm at night. After complaining I was moved to another room, and then again the next day, but other than that the hotel did not take it seriously, instead saying it couldn't have happened and stating I must have left the door open - I couldn't lock it from the inside as there is no way to do that. He walked right in, with the tv on and me in bed, not even just saying oops with the door partway open and noticing things in the room. I have no idea who he was. I also got food poisoning that I believe was from there as the crab starter I had on the first night had ice in it. So all of the day I had a supposed 'upgrade' I was ill in bed and unable to enjoy the (only) 3 days I had booked. I was a middle aged female travelling alone and though I ended up getting half my money back through Expedia I didnt feel safe after that. The hotel claimed to have 'looked after' me by visiting me/ringing me every hour - I didnt see anyone from 10am-6pm when I was in my room, ill. I only went out at 6pm as I had a restaurant booking anyway and needed to eat. To top it all off on the last day I was served a poached egg that was raw inside. I watched as all the other guests were asked if everything was ok except me. When I was about to leave the waiter came to take my plates. I showed him the egg and was asked 'was that not cooked enough for you?' I said I didn't like raw egg. He then asked if I wanted another - after I'd already eaten. Much t
