"A characterful historic hotel in a great location, but the cleanliness of the room fell well below expectations."

Excellent location in the heart of Tewkesbury, full of character and historic charm. The building itself is fascinating and makes for a memorable stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and there was enough room to store my bicycle safely in the room.

Unfortunately, the room was extremely dusty and appeared to have been missed during cleaning. When I accidentally knocked the bedside lamp, several insects fell out onto the bed, which was quite unpleasant and did not inspire confidence in the room’s cleanliness. A more thorough cleaning regime and sealing of woodwork would make a significant difference.

"Bar prices still high."

This was our second stay here this year and once again we had a good time. Credit to Ross and the staff for their welcome and efficiency. We used the "Spring Break" package and while generally it was good value and included coffee and cakes, a 2 course dinner and excellent breakfast, I did think that £43 for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and a glass of Rose was a bit steep. Our room was excellent, extremely quiet considering we stayed on a Saturday and we will be visiting again later in the year when going to the theatre.

"Very comfortable and enjoyable stay in well located historic hotel"

From the moment we arrived at this historic and well located hotel and were directed by friendly and helpful staff to our superbly appointed and comfortable room, through the great evening meal and the excellent breakfasts during our three day stay, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The bonus was being able to park my car on site.
