The hotel looks lovely from the outside. We didn't eat at the hotel but the bar was dead (and closed by 10pm) however they lovely man that has just started his night shift opened it up so we could have a drink. The rooms themselves slightly dates but as expected, my biggest issue was there was no shower gel/shampoo in the room, I asked the night staff to see if he could find some for me and he said he checked two other bedrooms who also didn't have shower gel and therefor couldn't find any for me,this to be is pretty basic and I would expect this in a £50 hotel room let alone one we where paying over £100 a both to stay in. The staff in the morning where too busy talking to each other then they where worried about me wanting to check out. There was also no water or bath robes in the room, which to me is pretty standered however I respect that not every hotel does provide them. Overall would not return or recommend.

For full clarity - I took this stay as a reward night so it cost me very little. If it had been at full price I would have felt very short changed. The hotel has the opportunity to be really nice, quiet location and was very peaceful overnight. However the room was tired and the bed was uncomfortable. Service from the staff was lacklustre and wasn't made to feel welcome.

The staff are excellent very nice,friendly and very helpful particularly reception. Overall the stay was very good. The breakfast was very good, nicely cooked. The only let down was the evening meal, we both ordered the steak ale and mushroom pie with whipped potatos and buttered peas. There was not a mushroom in sight, the pie crust was a bought in frozen pastry lid, the potatoes were lumpy and bland, no seasoning or butter or cream added and certainly not whipped and the peas have never seen any butter in their life!!! Not awful but not good we certainly get a much better meal in our local pub.

Everything is fine but nothing more and it could be such a gem. The overall place is lovely on the outside but it’s not quite as good on the inside. Staff are okay but not great. Food is fine but not amazing. Our room (Richmond) was a great size but minor niggles with bed comfort, shower head, hot water and wifi (although regarding wifi you have to allow for the remote surroundings). It’s good but with a little more love and care, it could be amazing. Probably explains why it’s 3 Star and not 4

Arrived after a long stressful drive and asked at check-in would I like to book dinner? Asked if room service was available and told yes, noted on my check-in form I would be ordering room-service. No room-service menu in the room so I went down to reception at 7.15pm to order, to be told that the kitchen wasn't taking orders for room-service and the dining room full. Not impressed. Also temperature zapped on arrival for Covid but there was no hand soap in the rom to wash hands? Only a white flip shower gel dispenser over the bath. Had stayed at Ibis in Plymouth the week before and I have to say although the rooms were basic there was better customer care there.

The hotel was spotlessly clean. The room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the golf putting green so a very pleasant outlook. The food was excellent and all the staff were polite and friendly and courteous and efficient. The Spa was great and the massage I had by Jo was fantastic. My overall experience was excellent and I would stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Lovely surroundings, 2 nice dog walks. Peaceful. Great spa facilities. Nice staff. Good breakfast.
