George & Pilgrims Hotel

We stayed for one night in the twin room. It was absolutely boiling in The Monks Cell so we had three fans going all night. The room was fine and the bathroom lovely. The staff were great. I was awake until 430am listening to lots of bangs, and scraping sounds 😳🫣 Apparently we were in Room one which is the most haunted of all the rooms. Scary!!

O quarto cheirava a mofo e estava abafado, janela em mau estado, soalho idem. Num dos pequenos-almoços não havia ingredientes.

Original, authentic, atmospheric, clean. Alun manager great host and his staff lovely. Many thanks to Scatty (Vera) front of house who arranged breakfast of our choosing daily. Veronica the cleaning lady, and all rest of the staff who were so helpful, especially taking suitcases up/ down the Original spiral staircase - obviously no lift in 1475 building! Pillows firm as we liked them, nice toiletries, towels, hairdryer, iron n board + large umbrella, coffee/tea making facilities, bottled water and most importantly FANS! PHEW! G&P cannot be bettered for its easy access to the whole of Glastonbury Village. An easy accessible street to all the wonderful magical passages. We definitely will return after its 12wk refurbishment beginning September 2026. Glastonbury has its own totally unique atmosphere and in the G&P we experienced several ghostly happenings 😯. Amazing building bang in the centre of Glastonbury. Large, reasonably priced, public car park right next door.

We have stayed here before so know what to expect. Beautiful big room ( number 3), comfy bed , good food and great location. On our 2nd night a massive storm hit and flooded the high street. Most businesses including the George & Pilgrim were flooded. Despite this, the staff worked tirelessly, sweeping out the water and trying to get the power back on, absolute troopers! They all deserve a pay rise!

The bar closed around 9pm on our first night , which was a disappointment, but apart from that, there was nothing to complain about. Oh , maybe change the pillows, they’re way too hard!
