La Sommellerie

Beautiful hotel located in winery area. Dinner was delicious. We loved tasting wine in Chateauneuf-du-Pape and also going to Avignon.

We enjoyed staying st la somellierie and could not fault the setting of the hotel with a wonderful pool. We did not know until we arrived that the restaurant was shut on sundays and Mondays which were the two days we stayed! It was very expensive to get a cab to anywhere and the walk to Châteauneuf-du-Pape itself is along a busy road with no path. We would go back but not without a car and maybe only on days the restaurant was open.

The dining was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff and an excellent meal.

Very nice and charming. Good restaurant and staff Placed a few miles outside of Chateaunef de Pape Surrounding, with the field of vines and vineyards. The garden is cozy and there is also a pool. It is highly recommended.

Nice hotel, bit of artistic licence with the photographs of the hotel!. The staff were very hospitable. Breakfast was acceptable Dinner was nice. Not enough sockets in the room, had to plug kettle in on the floor. And unplug light. No comfortable chair in the room. One sachet of coffee per day in the room but no milk. Could do with a sitting area with relaxing armchairs for very wet days like we just had for 2 days - perhaps they could also have lit the lovely fires in the hotel

Unfortunately, this hotel matches the town it straddles…both a big let down. We stopped off in the town to sample some of the famous wines before checking in to the hotel. The people, on the whole, were miserable and unwelcoming. Ominously forewarning us of the hotel to come. The staff at the hotel were minimally friendly and helpful. We couldn’t go to our rooms on arrival as they weren’t ready. We went out for lunch and were told we’d be able to go to our rooms when we came back. On getting back, we found our bags had not been put in our rooms and we had to carry them up to the rooms (no lift). For a hotel of this price and supposed caliber, this was a negative point. The rooms were small, almost pokey. The bathrooms were decent. When we came back, we wanted to have dinner in the hotel. We were told we had very little time to order (20:15 in the evening!)…we sat down and saw the menu was overpriced by far! The food, however, was okay. Breakfast in the morning was passed on. The grounds of the hotel were attractive. On the whole, this hotel was far too in love with itself and set prices that were not merited in any way.

My room was recently renovated and much nicer than anticipated. Very comfortable and stylish.

Quaint hotel with beautiful grounds and close to Chateauneuf du Pape.

Just outside the village of Chateauneuf du Pape. The hotel is lovely and airey with free parking for guests and use of a swimming pool. Good selection for breakfast

The hotel is pleasant, and the staff was nice and spoke good english. The room was a bit too austere for my liking and not very spacious. The bed was comfortable enough. I get annoyed with small bath towels, so another con of this place. The pool area is great and I wish we had brought our swimming gear as the weather was lovely. Overall, it's a more elderly crowd you'll find there, we only saw 1-2 other younger couples there during our stay. Breakfast was good quality although not the most varied. Kudos for the orange juice machine which was an amazing touch. The hotel is 3km from the village, so definitely not walking distance if you want to go for dinner or drinks. Given that this is primarily a wine region - and let's face it, what most people go there for - having to drive back/ get a cab is a nuisance. There is ample parking at the hotel though. We also had dinner one evening (because of the car thing) and it was packed. I read great reviews of the food there, so it was a bit of a let down. My gazpacho was dreadful and the duck wasn't good quality, even though cooked to the right point. My partner's meal choices were far better, so very hit and miss. When faced with the decision on where to dine the next evening, we went somewhere else.
