The George & Horn near Newbury

Staff were very friendly and efficient. For the price it was ok for a night's stay.

We left after about an hour. There was no heating in the room apart from a noisy, ineffective blower. No heating at all in the shower room. Duvets were very thin and request for blankets was ignored. It was the coldest night of the year so far and and we were forced to leave. The young ‘manager’ said he understood and regretted the situation but was not authorised to give us a refund. So far my efforts to get one have not been responded to. The hotel should not have let the room (3 outside walls in a converted bothy) when they knew their boiler was not working.

1. Parking was very limited, had to park on road on occasions. 2. Staff unhelpful and a couldn’t care less attitude with regards to breakfast on the Saturday morning, said it should have been pre booked. Eventually they decided to provide us with one. Kept saying it was company policy that it had to be pre booked 3. Food mediocre to say the least. Fish and chips ok on the Friday, most of the food was off the menu on Saturday, what was provided was sub standard. 4. Room was comfortable (beds) but stains on some of the bedding, shower was dirty. 5. The whole pub needs refurbishing, dirty, old and worn out. 6. Will never ever stay here again. 7. This is the first time I have had a bad experience with Hotels.Com and hope it is the last.

Reasobable priced room although a little tired

Friendly staff food excellent

Although due to the area becoming Tier 4 at midnight, they could not offer us breakfast (that was deducted from the bill). They had removed Toiletries, kettle and tea/coffee making equipment. Despite these things they warmly welcomed us and I would certainly recommend any to stay there once this covid-19 pandemic is finished

Nice comfortable stay. Food was good also

Friendly welcome. No evening meals . Late breakfast so had to miss it and that was a separate payment . Very loud noisy pub which was great for the locals. Uncomfortable bed and as door was to outside world and the wind shook the door all night. The room was clean but noisy as in the car park.

Breakfast was excellent and amazing value rooms are small but couldn’t be any bigger given the 16th century building. Decor downstairs a bit tired and bathroom could have been cleaner. Very accommodating staff Would stay again but would book direct not through booking site as could have got far better rate direct

Pub with rooms. Rooms are comfortable and basic, but as somewhere to sleep, that's all you really need. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
