Cedarwood Lakeside Motel & Conference Venue

Lakeview was nice.

It was all very rundown. Grounds need a good tidy up. Spa pool was colder than the swimming pool.

We like the location, right on the lake

Staff on reception was a bit rude when we asked for a tea towel as we didn't have one in room and also asked for pool towels and he kind of just brushed us off. Cleaning staff were nice and helpful.

The room was clean and nicely made up for us with great utensils available.

The property needs a lot of maintenance, it was disappointing to see the property needed tidying up. They need a dedicated gardener to go and remove all the weeds and tidy up the gardens it’s quite untidy and an eye sore. The pool needs a scrub at the bottom also it was quite messy around the pool area. The playground was a disaster, looks very unsafe and needs to be repaired! Kids should not be playing in such an unsafe area.

I liked that the property was next to the lake with Mokoia Island in the distance. The property also had a swimming pool, spa pool, seating area and a playground including trampolines for the kids. Our room was spacious and had all that we needed. We were so lucky to have a room right in front of the lake and to wake up with a beautiful view.

The only thing I didn’t like about the property is that I didn’t stay an extra night.

I booked to stay at this property for three nights with my family based on the information provided on booking.com. However there are so many issues with this property and some involve safety for children. Firstly on arrival the property resembles nothing like the photos online. It is evident this property has not been maintained for several years and is in overall disrepair from neglect. The outdoor areas: Overgrown grass and weeds. The outdoor areas look appealing for children online are in total disrepair and require some urgent maintenance. The children’s playground is missing items and has loose pieces of timber with nails and screws exposed. The playground is not safe for children to play on at all. The trampoline is tired and has no ladder. There is no bark in the playground area at all and just dry dirt and weeds and unused junk from the motel. The playground does not resemble the online photos at all. It is horrendous!! On arrival this was the first image that was the most disappointing. The pool: It is murky and all of the decking and brick work around the pool has moss and mould all over it. Once again a total lack of maintenance and upkeep. The decking around the pool has loose pieces of timber and in places your leg could fall through, again with exposed nails. The spa: Nothing like the pictures. It is warped and old. The surrounding timbers are loose and broken. You would not let your children enter it. There is not one piece of outdoor furniture that can be sat on due to mould, moss, cobwebs and or loose dangerous pieces of timber. The accommodation: In general very tired. Once we checked in and after unpacking we were informed we were in the wrong room and therefore had to repack and move rooms. Once we settled into the second room and unpacked we discovered the air conditioning would not operate and it was really hot with three children. We therefore had to move rooms for a third time.
