Villa Ilios

We stayed for a week in Villa Ilios. It is approx. 10mins away from the Airport- but we took the taxi. We wanted to get the bus but the intervals of it's arrival is always 1hour, and waiting for that long is tiring (Beware of the taxi drivers- if you can get it cheaper- get it.). Vill Ilios is run by a family. The Family were nice and very accomodating. The place was always cleaned and for it's price - it's actually perfect. The Hotel is probably 10-15minutes walking distance from Fíra. And from there on is where you can get the main Bus. But nearby the hotel were also a bus top, shops, bakerys, resto, and even a supermarket. Well, you can find a mini market everywhere. Point is, it is worth staying there. And you are near the center!

Hotellet lå som en liten hyggelig skjermet oase langs en noe traffikert vei. Fint svømmebasseng. Kort vei til sentrum og busstasjon. Helt OK.

The family working the hotel were very friendly and willing to help. They accommodated us despite an early arrival, shared local wine with us and told us about its production. The pool was well kept and the mini-fridge in the room was a huge perk. There's also a really great, 24/7 bakery that is just a 3 minute walk up the street. The bus stop to pretty much every bus that goes around the island (except Oia) is just a 1 minute walk from the hotel.

It was nice to stay in Santorini.

I booked online Villa Illios and got confirmation from Hotmail.com, but when I came there in September, I was told, that they did not receive my booking and have no rooms left. It was 7 pm and we had nowhere to go. After arguing I was proposed another hotel nearby of the same owner with lower rating ( (*) instead of (**) ) for the same price - they did find my booking when I showed the proof. First night was just sleepless, because air conditioner did not work, second night in a different room was OK. So, really I can't rate this hotel , because I did not stay at it, but there is no other way to submit a review and warn other people.

Nice family run budget hotel that was clean and comfortable. It was conveniently located about 10 minutes walk from the main centre but as it was located on a main road which caused some noise. Overall I would recommend it for a stay.

O hotel eh bem simples, mas limpo. Nao tinha agua quente no chuveiro... Funcionários rudes. E fica bem distante da praia. O que eh proximo eh apenas o centro de Thira, que eh bem pequeno e sem graça.

This hotel is pretty nice. Some language barriers with the staff, but it ended up working out. Decent location and short walk to main areas of Fira. Nice breakfast. Rooms are fairly comfortable though the shower is quite small, so may not work if you are a bigger person. Also the bathroom and part of the bedroom flooded after I took a shower on the second day. Decent hotel for the price.

On the good side, this one is centrally located very close to the heart of Firas downtown and buses. Rooms were cleaned thoroughly each day and we got a lift back to the port of departure upon checkout. On the not so good side, our check in was disappointing as we were initially given 2 singles instead of a double despite having made the reservation (which they resolved after we complained). Furthermore, upon our arrival on the island, the villa did not provide us a shuttle and we were stuck rambling for a lift. Lastly, it seemed like the reception did not want to be bothered by guests, and even left us waiting 30 minutes at the desk for checkout. Overall, you do get what you pay for with this one and I would still recommend this villa to a friend.

Nous n'avons passé qu'une seule nuit dans cet hôtel (arrivée à minuit). Chambre propre. Petit déjeuner correct (4€). Proche de Fira.Arrêt de bus à proximité pour toutes les destinations. Seul bémol: le bruit de la circulation.
