"Shake, Rattle and Roll"

2.0

When we checked into this hotel on a Tuesday, on the sixth floor, we learned that the elevator didn't work properly. We informed the reception, and were greeted with Gallic shrugs. On Thursday, the elevator broke down completely at 2 pm, and I waited until 4.30 pm for the technician to get it back in working order. Other complaints: poor reception of CNN on the TV, no restaurant, 10 minute walk through the pickpockets of Dakar to the closest restaurant. If you want a good, moderately priced in downtown Dakar, go to the el-Farid, which has its own restaurant and functioning elevators.

"Suitable for short stay in the centre of Dakar"

8.0

The hotel right in the centre of the city and in the middle of a buzzing wholesale vegetable market with narrow streets. A good experience though if you wish to explore the city centre of Dakar. Everything is at a walk by distance. Lot of Indian visitors stay in this hotel, don't know why. Even though the hotel is right in the centre and on a busy street, it is absolutely quiet in the night so you get a peaceful sleep. The room is quite large and the bathroom is too big, the old style. The room is clean and has a comfortable bed to give you a good sleep. The A/c works very well which you definitely need in hot and humid Dakar. There is a small restaurant but it serves only the breakfast and that too is not worth anything. There are many restaurants around and serve authentic Mediterranean food. They are not expensive either. If you have an early morning flight then you will get many taxis waiting just outside the hotel gate. Bargain and you may get to pay only 4,000 Francs to the airport which is hardly 15 min drive without any traffic. Dakar has good roads and decent infrastructure. They do have an elevator which looks a bit scary for the first time but not bad. Overall, they have maintained it quite well and is worth giving a shot for a short stay.

Right in the heart of the business area, next to the port and the presidential palace. The rooms are large, neat , could be more better at the price of the room. Many labanese restaurants nearby. The hotel does not operate a full fledged restaurant. Mostly no breakfast, in case you opt for it's just a piece of bread and canned Juice.

"Prima voor 1 of 2 nachten gezien de goede prijs."

8.0

Redelijk maar niet 100% nette kamer. Nachttafellampjes werkten niet. Hoofdsteun van bed kraakte geweldig alleen al door er tegen te leunen. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel en eenvoudig maar goed ontbijt. Internet op de kamer. Dicht bij de haven en dus interessant voor mensen die de boot naar Ziguinchor willen nemen.

"Very central - Room okay"

6.0

Stayed here for two nights. Room size is good but very basic and a little tired. Bed comfort is okay. The room is a little dark. The room has a lack of power points, so you have to unplug fridge, table lights or TV to access a power point. My room had a double bed and a single bed. Fridge had a few drinks but not many. Bathroom was okay but again a little tired. Water pressure okay. Wi-Fi available for free, not overly fast. No safe in room but they do have one behind reception desk. Very central to CBD, close to Goree Island ferry terminal.

"Visit to Dakar"

6.0

I stayed here in January 2017. This a small hotel with a small restaurant. Not very expensive for downtown Dakar. It has Wifi, hot water, and well located. Very quiet during the night time; daytime however is very different because of heavy traffic around the business district. It is a decent average place to stay in dakar. Very friendly folks at the reception desk.

"Al Baraka all right"

8.0

Good air conditioning, and wifi. Not a great value, but had a good stay. The bar kept running out of cold beers, and closed very early in the evening. Go up the street and buy them cheaply at the super market and place them in your mini fridge. A cold one is essential in West Africa! The higher floors are quieter, and better view. Just no lift (elevator). Breakfast was good. You can have them fry an egg or two for a small fee. Very handy or close to the ferry to Ille deGore, and some good restaurants within a few blocks.

"If you're into adventure..."

2.0

I was forced to take his 1/2star hotel since my agent couldn't find anything else. I was put off by the fact that the place smelled of urine and smoke. The checkin desk was completely covered in old sweat and sticky Attached some pictures of the room. If a hotel is clean, it is acceptable, but brown stains on white linen is not on.

"Comfortable and affordable"

8.0

This is a very affordable hotel located in a vibrant and attractive area of Dakar, within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants, shopping areas and street markets. The rooms are kept very clean and I had only one minor issue during my recent week-long stay here: the hot water heater stopped working one morning, just as I finished my shower. I checked the water again after an hour had passed, and it was still cold. I reported the matter to the front desk staff before going out for the afternoon, and by the time I returned the problem had been fixed. The air conditioner is very quiet and works great! I was quite comfortable in my second-floor (third-floor, by American standards) room. The balcony is a great place to pass the time, watching the people of the city go about their business. If you are a light sleeper or need to sleep during odd hours, you will want to request a higher floor, as the street noise can get rather loud at times. Things quiet down dramatically in the late evening and overnight hours. The convenient mini-bar is well-stocked with ice-cold drinks, priced very reasonably. The hotel staff is very friendly, helpful and committed to making sure you're comfortable and have everything you need. Unless you demand five-star luxury and have the money to pay for it, I think the Al Baraka is one of the best options you'll find in Dakar.
