Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda - All Inclusive

We have been in the Dominican Republic over 10 times and this is our first negative review. Where do I begin to explain how terrible this resort is? There should be a disclaimer that they only cater to Spanish-speaking customers. Every piece of entertainment was all in Spanish. Spanish speaking people were greeted with smiles and seated right away. All inclusive does not mean all inclusive unless you are constantly tipping people to get any kind of service. Even then it’s substandard. You will never be over-served alcohol here because getting orders filled at the bar or restaurants is almost impossible. You can order room service but will not get it. You can order towels and things multiple times and you will never receive them. You will get rolled eyes if you try to speak English to get a table at any of the restaurants. You could possibly find a big piece of plastic bag in your food like we did. You can try to book a restaurant for a week for a big family dinner and never get it. Hands down the worst resort I have stayed in in my entire life.

Great stay, was upgraded to room with swim up pool which was great. Food room service included in the all inclusive was a huge plus. Room need a little more cleaning than what’s expected at a 5 start restaurant. Had two room bath tub wasn’t usable as looked very unclean aged. Overall stay was good and traveling with teenagers. Huge improvement is the booking which was a huge aggrevation upon arrival is the insinuation that I lied on the booking. One of my sons is 16 and listed as a child on Expedia booking (0-17) however they said anyone over 12 is considered an Adult at thier resort! How is that my fault.. that’s an issue/disconnect between the resort and Expedia! We were able to resolve but took a heated discussion with management. This wasn’t the way I wanted to start the vacation. Besides that we had a great time.

Great hotel the food, restaurant, entertainment was fantastic. If you have kids over four years old the kids club is the best I have been they take them to the pool and many activity.

Nice property. Huge pool. A lot of activities and shows. Nice staff.

This hotel was a total disaster. The people are unfriendly and it was very disappointing. The hotel was very outdated and dirty. The bathrooms were filthy and mold all over. It was very unpleasant. It definitely would be our last at this hotel.

Everything was beautiful

The property transportation is really bad. You have to wait a lot for the trolleys to pass and when they do you sometimes need to take another because not all go to the same place. The staff at the buffets are not friendly you have to wait a lot to get water. I think they are under staff.

Employees were great

The trolley transport system was ok but a little slow. The food was great. The staff at the Kids Club was GREAT!!
