Holiday Inn ALMATY by IHG

i had stayed 3 hotels in almaty and this one isn't certainly the best one. the room wasn't quite ready when i entered, and the toilet smelled in certain period of time of the day. Given these may happen in any other hotel, i would stay here again if the cost including breakfast is reasonable.

It is a nice enough hotel, like any Holiday Inn anywhere in the world. Breakfast and other food in the restaurant is good. Staff are friendly and fairly well-trained, but this is the part of the hotel that is definitely not like Holiday Inn elsewhere. They are friendly but just don't have the level of service training that you would find at Holiday Inn in the US for example. Our waiter the first night at dinner was comically bad at his job, forgetting orders, leaving table while people were placing orders, confused about menu items, etc. But he tried hard and was full of apologies, which is not typical for service everywhere. I would probably not stay here again because of location. It is walkable to Dostyk and several attractions, but the hotel is kind of tucked away from most of the interesting parts of the city and it is on an intersection of two highways. I'd rather stay in a slightly less-nice hotel close to Panfilov. But if you're on business or airport transit or only interested in this part of town, it could be a good option.

I expected a Holiday Inn to be pretty similar to holiday Inns in the States and wasn't disappointed. Hotels in Almaty are expensive and this Holiday Inn was in the lower price range for good hotels. Property is fairly new. Hotel is in good condition. Room was nice with a comfortable bed and both firm and soft pillows provided. The only negative about the room is the 'lounge' chair is horribly uncomfortable (bad angle). Great water pressure and loads of hot water. Minibar is overpriced. Walk to the gas station across the street for drinks and snacks. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. This hotel was recommended by an Almaty resident and now I'm recommending it too.

I stayed for 5 days to do business and was satisfied. the location is in walking distance from Central Almaty. nice parks in the area. Staff were efficient and friendly. Don't order food in the hotel. It cost 2 to 3 times more than ordering in a nice resto down town. There is no business center beyond a couple computers.

The hotel is way overpriced for what it offers. The room I stayed in was of average size, the furnishings, towels, and bedding clearly show their age. Other than that the service is OK, and food is decent.

Not bad for Almaty. New building, very clean inside. Good breakfast.. Internet thought was not reall working very good.. way to slow for this tipe of the hotel. Generaly - very good!

Clean rooms, good service will visit again on business

Rooms confortable (very good bed) as long as they are on the opposite side of the road (otherwise very noisy). Very cold service by employees who forgot how to smile : not pleasant at all ! Internet cable : doesn't work. Only wifi.

Good hotel, excellent location, generally a good overall experience but the food was not great.
