ibis Bordeaux Centre Bastide

The hotel was conveniently placed and only a 10 minute walk to the city centre. The beds were extremely comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is an added cost, and for the price, you could have something much nicer in town. But other than this, I have no complaints! I would definitely recommend this.

Just over the river, with convenient tram service to the city centre. Spacious and clean rooms. There is no room service or kettle in the room. But the staff is very helpful. You can order food at the hotel bar and they will serve you. One can take these plates to the room.

Check-in was rather slow, but as the receptionist was apologetic about this, I didn't mind. The room was not large, but very clean and quiet with modern fittings - ideal for a short stay. I liked the pod-type bathroom, which made good use of space. The location avoids the need to drive into central Bordeaux if you arrive by car, but is near enough to walk to the centre if you are happy walking. There's also a tram stop very near, so you can take a tram into town. We left our car on the street outside, as it's free if you can get a space, but unfortunately someone slashed a whole load of car tyres in the night, including one of ours (some cars had two tyres slashed). In the hotel they said this hadn't happened before, and I had no reason not to believe them, but you may be better off paying the €10 for parking in the underground car park next door which the hotel has a deal with. We opted to pay for breakfast in advance, but this was not good value compared with the room itself.

Clean and comfortable room, with very helpful staff

My wife and I spent 6 nights at this hotel and were very happy with the room and with the location. The room was comfortable and had plenty of space. We took a portable kettle as we know that French hotels often don't provide one. The neighbourhood is perfect. It isn't far from the bridge across the river to the old town and has a safe and peaceful feel to it. There are bikes to hire just across the road. Cycling is the best way to explore and is extremely well catered for.

Good location, friendly staff and very comfortable beds. Had a great stay. Supermarket next door too which was an added bonus.

Easy to find. Underground parking is a great bonus in an area where parking can be difficult.

On arrival our booking for 6 of us in 3 rooms was not on the hotels records. It was a night before a very early flight to the USA so we were very worried. The receptionist (Aurelie) repeatedly said that the bookings were not taken. In a monotone voice and very rude. I showed the reservation number and the printed email confirmation. She did not care. Minutes went by and panic swept us all as I asked why they didn't have our bookings and do you have rooms anyway? Her replies were that the bookings were not on her computer and we have no rooms booked. I asked again do you have rooms anyway? The only answer was 'you have no rooms booked'. By this time we (my in-laws and their child) were thinking we may have to leave and start trying to find rooms in another hotel and hope we find somewhere this late. Obviously upset and worried as I thought I had booked well, I repeated 'do you have rooms anyway?' and finally they found us rooms. She (Aurelie) seemed to enjoy our state of panic. I have stayed at the hotel a few times before and she is the only bad thing about the place. Had it been my first time I would not stay again.
