Kyoto Garden Palace

We loved it being across the street from the old Imperial Palace. With the large Japanese population it was nice to have such a large park like area to get away from all the people. All the other hotels we stayed at had a breakfast buffet. Here they only had a few selections for breakfast. Would recommend a breakfast buffet to a wider selection of food.

The hotel is located just across the street from the imperial palace and a short taxi ride to the Gion, geisha district or the train station. There are also two nearby metro stations. The rooms are nice but a bit small. There are several temples nearby but few restaurants or shops. The breakfast offered by the hotel is good value. the staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is old, small, bathtub has mold. Air conditioning is hot not cold.

Beautiful hotel in a convenient location (across the street from the Imperial Palace as well as being within walking distance of shops and restaurants). The hotel staff was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Affordable and spacious rooms close to the palace park. A nice 30min walk to Kyoto university.

Western style rooms. Staff was friendly and responsive. Nice location - short walk to bus stops/subway. Taxis were easily called.

Front Desk Staff needs to be better informed about the high end tourist spots. Need more reasonable dining facilities

No lotion. Overall, the room is not bad. It’s a bit walk to the subway.

I booked late and could not find a place in Gion, so I looked elsewhere, including near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and found this wonderful hotel. The price was extremely affordable given the amenities and size of the room and bathroom. The proximity to the Kyoto Imperial Palace and gardens/park is a strong point, as is the proximity on the north side to Ginkakuji by short taxi ride. However, if seeking a more central location, either to the train station for a quick stay or near the Gion area, the hotel is situated between two Kyoto subway stations, approximately 15 minutes in either direction, and it does take some time to get around. Otherwise highly recommended!
