Heidl Guest House

There was no one at the guest house which is attached to a hotel. The hotel staff checked us in and gave us our keys and a breakfast order form which we were to fill out. Everything went fine and we were happy with the room.

Very convenient a d restaurants near by.

The beds were very good and shower excellent. However, there are only 3 parking spaces for 8 rooms so you have to be lucky (there was no space at the co-owned hotel next door either). The chairs in the room were completely knackered, so much so that you could not sit on them. The "lounge" was a bedroom where the bed was propped up against a wall and just consisted of two similarly knackered chairs. The windows had devices put on them to stop you opening them beyond a tiny slit so I would hate to be in here on a hot day. Breakfast was served in the Indian restaurant next door. Cereals were good but fried egg was dried out and cheap catering sausages in cooked breakfast. This was our last day of an 11 day Scottish holiday and this was by far the worst of the places that we stayed in. We picked this hotel on the basis of its review score and cannot imagine how it has such a high score.

We stayed here from September 7 to 10 in room 2 (street side). Although the information in the room still mentions hosts Jackie and Mark, it is run by new owners. The Guest House is located close to the center of Perth. You have to eat breakfast in the Grampian hotel next door. For breakfast you must select your choice on a pre-printed form every day before 10:00 PM. Unless you want to eat the same breakfast every day. The beds are very uncomfortable. The mattress is also placed on wooden planks. The quality of the WiFi signal is very weak. The bathroom is spacious enough, but the entrance to the shower is not suitable for more sturdy people. When checking out we asked for the invoice. Even though we had paid with the MasterCard during check-in, we received an invoice stating that the entire amount for the 3 nights had not yet been paid. After our comment about this, the amount was manually changed to £0.00. We requested a correct invoice. The clerk said he could do this for the guests at the Grampian hotel, but didn't know how to do it for those at Heidl Guest House. We insisted and someone else was brought in. Finally after 45 minutes, we got our invoice. We cannot recommend this accommodation.

We stayed here for one night in June during our Scotland vacation. Our room was quiet. The breakfast was in the building next door but it was good. It was a good place to stay just passing through.

Room needed a good clean. Shower head actually black - unusable. Guests lounge had 1 broken dining room chair and 2 other dining room chairs. that was all. The only good thing was the bed linen was clean and the bed comfy. Had to have breakfast next door in the hotel. Not filled - hardly anything left although we were down at 9am. Ciost £100 for one night double room. Staff not helpful. Stairs from small flight to larger flight badly lit and my sister fell. When we complained about the shower head and asked to speak to the manager we got three different answers and eventually told to leave as the manager wasn't soming and they refused to phone him. Said to email him. Asked for email address and were refused. Not a good place to stay.

Single room but toilet next to it meaning you had to go via the corridor not good.

Clean and tidy. Good bed coverings. Great breakfast included. Good place for a stopover.

Nice clean room and everything needed was catered for there (although I didn’t find a hairdryer). Very well catered for breakfast. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Quick solo family visit to Perth Heidl was in my view the best B&B in Perth with the MacKinnons owning it. Was always going to be hard act to follow, with their friendly manner & homely feel. Positives=still clean, quiet if you have back rooms 5, 7 or 8; location on York place Negatives=mattress in room5 gone, just awful, my back still feeling it!; breakfast now in Grampian next door as the Nepalese now run both Heidl & Grampian Breakfast was ok with fruit on offer as well as cooked.
