Taunton House Hotel

Fantastic stay at Taunton house hotel. Great location here for all the amenities in Taunton and places to go. The room was spotless and very spacious. Car parking was free and they allowed me to leave it there the next day so was ideal.

Very convenient location

We never saw a member of staff as it was self check in. The place felt unwelcoming because of this. We stayed there a few years ago and it was lovely. We had a proper welcome. But now it's soulless. No one on reception. The bar has been stripped bare and no breakfast served. The place feels empty and unloved.

Stayed here on business and was a bit cautious about arriving there and being greeted by a notice asking me to text and get a door code then get my key from a key box. But - it all worked really well. It's a bit odd, there is a reception, a bar area and a small dining room but no sign of anyone and no breakfast offering despite here being a mention of it on the web site. Room was nice enough though and in an odd way it's quite nice not having to deal with reception, checking in etc. I liked it, and it's in a great location with free parking.

Real confusion over where the door key was kept - and not as previously stated. I thought the host was gruff when approached for help.

The location is perfect. The building itself is lovely.

Nobody there.

A lot of people outside front door not being able to get in because code had not been sent to them.but we did.the toilet made a noise every time you flush.and the pillow were very thin could have done with more firmer or even spare ones

Everything else was ok

Great location, very close town centre, just a couple of mins walk and you're on the main shopping street. Very easy parking immediately outside hotel. Bed was a good size too, and room had 2 fully opening windows and a fan - weather really warm so appreciated the air-flow!

Stayed for 2 nights. After 1st night, the towels were changed and the tea/coffee sachets replenished but the bed was left unmade! This hotel is similarly priced to others in Taunton and the beds are made up on a daily basis in those; was suprised to find it wasn't here. Also no herbal tea-bags of any kind supplied, and none available when I asked. Felt it was over-priced as reception desk unstaffed, (you let yourself in with a key code), and there are no facilities like a bar/cafe or even a drinks/food vending machine. Not even a biscuit next to the room kettle! Issue with the water - the cold tap temperature seems to have a life of it's own - alternates between hot and lukewarm!

Loved the room it was very cosy and comfortable, it was ideal for me due to being close to my work place and there being a Sainsbury’s down the road. It was really clean. It is a really lovely location.
