The property’s location was excellent, situated just a short distance from the seafront

Initially, communication with the hotel was excellent. Although Beverly was out running errands, we arrived earlier than expected and were still allowed to access our room, which was brilliant. We would have been happy to wait or grab a coffee, so this was a very positive first impression. The allocated room did not correspond to the images displayed during the booking process. Although updated photos were later shared and the overall décor was consistent, the room’s size was smaller than anticipated. The room included a shower and WC; however, these were located within the bedroom area, separated only by a wall divide /curtain ! Sadly, there’s no sea view—just an alleyway out the back Staff member, who appeared to be the owner, came across as quite defensive, especially when we inquired about parking, which felt odd The cleanliness of the room was poor, with visible dust on surfaces and shelves. This issue was also noticeable in the bar and lounge areas. I am unsure how the property has received such high cleanliness ratings, as this did not reflect our experience. The breakfast was fairly average overall. The sausages were quite bland, but the bacon was excellent—except for the unfortunate presence of a human hair, which was unacceptable. When I raised the concern regarding the hair found in the bacon, Beverly responded by stating that, as she has blonde hair, the issue could not have originated from her. However, the other staff member who served us had long dark hair, and neither individuals had their hair properly tied back. Beverly subsequently suggested that the hair might have come from the egg.... Regardless of its origin, it is unacceptable that the food was checked before being served. Unfortunately, Beverly did not take responsibility and offered no apology, whereas the other staff member was very understanding and handled the situation well.

The place itself could be charming and the location is very central, but it’s far too dirty, even by English standards: sticky floors, a strong smell of dogs at the entrance, windows that clearly haven’t been cleaned, a broken bathroom fan, and more. I ended up buying cleaning supplies and scrubbing my own room. It was a real disappointment, and it makes me question all the previous reviews (are they genuine or not?). The price is far too high (it’s one of the most expensive in the area) given the poor standards of cleanliness and service. I’m truly sorry, but I cannot recommend this place.

Superb breakfast and a great room, parking outside was free and we left the car there and used the bus, old town was lovely, staff were great location great

Room in spots needed a little work - door to bathroom had issues and lock to get into the building could be improved. Plus £360 for two nights - maybe a little high but ok as had a lovely time - would come again

Excellent stay very polite staff will recommend, And will be coming back.
