Lumley Castle Hotel

There was far more to see and experience at Lumley Castle than we had expected, but we were only there for an overnight stay while in transit to LHR. Wish we had planned more time to explore the site!

To many stairs for this old gal

The atmosphere was relaxing. Staff were friendly and welcoming. From start to finish, our stay here was superb.

Food was great and staff were very pleasant and attentive. Comfortable beds.

Creaky floorboards in room above was quite noisy. Cleanliness of room not the best e.g. boxed in areas in bathroom behind toilet/sink were very dusty and paintwork in room had a lot of marks/scatches and needed repainted.

The rooms were elegantly decorated and very comfortable.

The dinner wait staff lacked training . For example, we were served a bread appetizer without bread plates, the waitress then sloshed our wine and we had to ask to have the table wiped. Two of our duck entrees were tough.

Staying in a historic building what is there not to like, quirky but clever used of the layout means it functions really well with all modern requirements but without impacting on the character of the venue. Excellent location for the cricket ground

The restaurant food was excellent, for both breakfast and evening meal. The staff were all friendly and offered to help with luggage etc. Nothing was too much trouble

Amazing place to stay

Our room was exceptionally small and although the castle maybe 600 years old and is beautiful the rooms need modernising

The environment, staff and food was excellent. Such a beautiful place to stay.
