As someone who has only stayed in 2-3 star hotels previously, me and my partner booked here and were excited to experience the 4 star status, however we were let down as this hotel, in our opinion is certainly not 4 star.
Pros:
The room was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable, we were left a plate of food and bottles of water for a late arrival, which was a nice gesture.
The pool areas were nicely presented and well maintained, plenty of sun loungers.
The food was nice as far as all inclusive goes, as a picky eater who does not eat meat, I was very pleased with the pizzas! And my partner enjoyed lots of the meat selections, which was tender and tasty, he did not go hungry. Dessert options were varied and delicious.
The cleaners did an excellent job and were very friendly, clearly they work hard and to a good standard.
Sunset is gorgeous from this location, especially with a sea view balcony!
Cons:
Generally we found that the staff did not have the time of day to engage with us, reception staff (apart from William) were blunt and short, the bar staff were the same way, barely acknowledging us when we was at the poolside bar, I wouldn’t say they was rude, just not as friendly or approachable as I feel they should be In a hospitality role.
Upon booking the pictures are deceiving, whilst I feel the beautiful pool photo is somewhat a reflection, what it doesn’t include is the reality.. that being a busy main road between the hotel and beach which is not shown, this wasn’t a big deal but did kill the serenity of the expectations from the pictures.
Along side the main road there is a small building which smells strongly of poo, rather off putting, couldn’t smell it all the time, but when we did it made us feel ill.
The air con in the room was terrible, we complained to reception, they sent an engineer up to our room to check, he told us it was working fine and asked if we would like him to get a thermometer to check it, we thought this was dismissive and condescending. This made sleeping at night uncomfortable as it was too hot.
Breakfast food was lacking for us, especially the hot food, staff at the food stations again appeared hostile and unapproachable, the waitresses did say hello and appeared more open to guest interaction. Again as the picky eater, limited breakfast time meals were difficult, especially as the toaster kept burning my toast : .
All inclusive drinks were p*** poor, soft drinks were really sweet and sugary, I requested a diet drink and was still convinced it was full fat, I wouldn’t usually pick as such boring topics but it was making my teeth feel fury. The snack bar around the pool was limited, stinky and uninspiring, as a holiday goer, i rather enjoy pizza, toasties and chips, this i feel is standard for a snack bar. The choices consisted of sandwiches, pasta, soggy chips and some desserts and fruit. I am a picky eater however the hubby didn’t even venture in for snacks.
I can agree with other reviews in regards to the entertainment being lack lustre, it was dragged out, cringey and boring. Entertainment during the day was aqua gym the rest of the itinerary was not followed, things like darts, ping pong, which would in fact get guests and staff interacting and engaging. Loud annoying music was played through one speaker all day, I imagine to make up for the lack of effort. Both reps also smoked on the job and drank, which is weird, in my opinion.
There is apparently a 2 drink rule at the bar however apparently only applies on certain days, or whenever suits because we had 3 at a time and so did others, but other staff would enforce this rule, which we can respect but this clearly is being followed, much like the sun lounger rules which state no beds are to be reserved, however this happens and staff remove your towel if you aren’t at the beds for 10am.
Overall we would not rate this hotel 4 star at all, have stayed in much more welcoming, warm and accommodating 2 stars hotels, i feel i would of enjoyed this stay much more if the staff were more engaging and friendly instead of making us feel like a hinderance for even being there and requiring their services, which we paid over the odds for.
