"3 Star at best"

4.0

We are just back from an 11 night stay and the first thing to address is that it doesn't deserve its 4 star rating from Jet2 (our tour operator). First the positives.. Good location only 14-20 euros taxi ride to the old town Beach across the road (would be nice to have a zebra crossing), as you do rely on someone slowing down to get across 3 pools and the quiet pool is nice with some good shade. Adequate beds, although some were broken but we did see them replacing with brand new ones which is good. Multiple lifts which is great as one of our party really struggles with stairs. Food – pizza absolutely spot on, always great choice and freshly made (hottest food) Sunbeds – As always, sunbeds are in demand with a lot of people reserving them from early on in the day. However, it was good to see that if the beds were then not occupied once breakfast had finished, the lifeguard removes towels, even if you have been occupying them before you went for breakfast. Therefore, its advisable to ensure you are on your beds once breakfast service finishes at 10am. On another positive note, on the whole, we found there was always beds to be found whatever time of day you need them and we went in August which is peak season. Now the negatives.. I’m not going to mention entertainment as you will see on multiple reviews it's pretty poor but we can make our own fun lol Firstly, as a non-alcoholic drinker/caffeine intolerant, I usually take the little Robinson's mini juices and I just have water, with an occasional soft drink. However, the place seems to want to limit how much water you can have and so serve water in small glasses/plastic cups. I did request if I could have a larger pint size glass or larger plastic cup to which I was told NO – I raised this with our Jet2 rep who asked if they could make an exception to which it was NO as other people would want the same; it is all inclusive so you would think it wouldn't be a problem. Security – We have never stayed in a hotel without security in the foyer, having never stayed at an HB/AI (all inclusive guests have a band - half board doesn't). Therefore, there would be nothing stopping random people walking into the hotel and using the facilities or popping into rooms when cleaners have the doors open – it didn’t feel secure at all, especially when we have a teenage daughter. Dis-repair - Other than fixing a cracked tile (which a drinks delivery pump truck broke whilst delivering to the quiet pool bar and mowing the grass), I can't see anything else they do. The main pool toilets when we got there had a broken cubicle and urinal in the mens and similar in the woman's that never changed for our 11-night stay. I did hear a rumour that they are trying to sell hotel but not sure if this is correct but they obviously don't look like they want to spend money on it. Staff – I see loads of people commenting on the staff and how happy they are and polite. I’ve experienced so much better. Usually your cleaner is the best of all and we always leave a good tip in response (saved the money) On 3 occasions had to go for toilet roll and bin liners as they hadn’t replaced and other than towels in the bathroom and making the beds, nothing else moved in the room for 11 days. Snack bar food – Really don’t bother as other than luke warm chips, you had a choice of two warm options and then sandwiches and salads, donuts and some cakes. It seemed to be anything that was left over from the night before. Very poor considering we arrived after the main restaurant had finished lunch service. Restaurant food – We are fussy eaters and was disappointed but some nights are better than others. Although personally I was stuck with pizza and chips for 8 nights and we ate out for the other 3. The choice is limited and not what we have had at other 4 star hotels. For example, there was no bread for 2 evenings as it was covered with tea towels, although it isn’t the freshest anyway. Restaurant – Having stayed with friends who weren’t all inclusive it seems if you get a good waiter your drinks are on him and on multiple evenings this was the case. This was a bit annoying if you’d paid for the all inclusive like us. The biggest disappointment though came on our last night, we were sat eating our evening meal when a little girl on the table at the side of us was awfully unwell and was sick over the table and floor. The staff were immediately alerted to it and it took several minutes for the guy in the black who seemed to be in charge, to move chairs as to hide the mess on the floor but was still on the table. 15 minutes then passed and we went and spoke to staff to ask why it hadn’t been cleaned up ---“not my job I am a waiter we are waiting for a cleaner” several more minutes later, a cleaner appears with full PPE gear on to tidy up – this is not acceptable in a busy dining area. In all honesty, we did come to the conclusion we had a nice holiday, but we wouldn’t go back to this particular hotel and would advise people to try and stay elsewhere. This simply does not rate as a 4 star hotel for us.

"A good hotel, everything we needed - with really friendly and attentive staff, good food and drinks and good location"

8.0

We stayed in the BelAir Beach Hotel in August (12 of us) - after reading mixed reviews we were unsure of what to expect, especially in terms of food and drink options. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the buffet food, it catered to everyone and the options changed from night to night. There is a snack bar available by the pool but it is buffet food (chips, different meats, rice and ready made salads/fruits) There is an additional menu at the snack bar with gyros, fish, pizzas etc all for an additional charge. The downstairs lobby bar has about 12 cocktails to offer, they are nice enough and have a good amount of alcohol in them;) Special mention to ilias who was so attentive, always up for a conversation, friendly and by the end of the holiday knew us on first name terms. The entertainment was really good fun, from bingo, karaoke, pool activities and greek dancing nights - the entertainment team were absolutely brilliant (Judi and Dino) - not just brilliant entertainers but also such lovely people always asking if there’s anything you need and just great to have a laugh with around the hotel! The pool was beautiful, great for a cool down in the hot weather - the only thing i will mention is the sunlounger - guest ratio … especially if you are in a larger group and want to sit together. As expected people get up early doors to put their towels down, so you kind of have to do the same :/ The hotel doesn’t have a private beach, however when you cross the road outside the hotel there are plenty of loungers available (prices vary from free to €10) Overall we had a brilliant stay, clean rooms (cleaners come every day), friendly staff, good food and drink and fun entertainment. For those who don’t want to eat at the buffet every night (as there are no hotel restaurants) it’s a 15-25min walk - left from the hotel to Iallyssos. If you turn right out of the hotel there are a small bunch of lovely restaurants / chill bars (We went right from the hotel most nights and food was DELICIOUS) The younger ones in the group mentioned the WIFI wasn’t brilliant - i can’t disagree with that, i did end up using my mobile data. Overall the hotel is what you would expect, every single member of staff was super friendly. I would describe the hotel as a good 3 star rather than a 4 star. however everything was good and we actually had a really lovely stay! - Millie xox

"Not happy."

6.0

We arrived at this hotel at midnight on the 8th of aug the man on the reception named bill/william was very nice and very helpful,so 10 out of 10 to him but downhill from there. We have stopped at many 3 star hotels and this is only a 3 star, don't be fooled into thinking it's 4 star. The room was ok,clean and with a lovely balcony view over looking a very busy main road which was very difficult to cross most of the time, which the hotel does'nt show in the pictures but over looking the road the view was beautiful. So about the restaurant the food variety was very good but only at 3 star level most of the staff seemed very nice just the odd 1 that was'nt,the bar staff at night were all cheerful and pleasant.Onto the bar staff around the pool, during the day they did'nt know how to smile and at times were quite rude,1 male at the pool bar,a tall man was very grumpy indeed everyday and i think he should consider getting a job working on his own, probably at a funeral directors.Oh and the bar staff make their own rules up as they go along as regarding how many alcoholic drinks you can purchase at any 1 time The day before we left we asked if we could keep our room on as we had a late flight the following day the answer was no but charged us £55 to rent another room and we could only use it for 6hrs so still had to wait around, might as well not of bothered, god help anyone who ends up with this room as its in the back and beyond in fact i've seen better rooms on prisoner cell block h.I know the room we booked is charged per night but we never got in it til midnight so why could'nt they let us stay in there for 6hr longer, because i checked before i left at 8.30 and there was nobody in it. (Forgot to mention the cleaners were lovely and cheerful all of the time) This was our 1st trip to rhodes and probably our last the mayhem at the airport did'nt help.

"Underwhelming"

6.0

As someone who has only stayed in 2-3 star hotels previously, me and my partner booked here and were excited to experience the 4 star status, however we were let down as this hotel, in our opinion is certainly not 4 star. Pros: The room was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable, we were left a plate of food and bottles of water for a late arrival, which was a nice gesture. The pool areas were nicely presented and well maintained, plenty of sun loungers. The food was nice as far as all inclusive goes, as a picky eater who does not eat meat, I was very pleased with the pizzas! And my partner enjoyed lots of the meat selections, which was tender and tasty, he did not go hungry. Dessert options were varied and delicious. The cleaners did an excellent job and were very friendly, clearly they work hard and to a good standard. Sunset is gorgeous from this location, especially with a sea view balcony! Cons: Generally we found that the staff did not have the time of day to engage with us, reception staff (apart from William) were blunt and short, the bar staff were the same way, barely acknowledging us when we was at the poolside bar, I wouldn’t say they was rude, just not as friendly or approachable as I feel they should be In a hospitality role. Upon booking the pictures are deceiving, whilst I feel the beautiful pool photo is somewhat a reflection, what it doesn’t include is the reality.. that being a busy main road between the hotel and beach which is not shown, this wasn’t a big deal but did kill the serenity of the expectations from the pictures. Along side the main road there is a small building which smells strongly of poo, rather off putting, couldn’t smell it all the time, but when we did it made us feel ill. The air con in the room was terrible, we complained to reception, they sent an engineer up to our room to check, he told us it was working fine and asked if we would like him to get a thermometer to check it, we thought this was dismissive and condescending. This made sleeping at night uncomfortable as it was too hot. Breakfast food was lacking for us, especially the hot food, staff at the food stations again appeared hostile and unapproachable, the waitresses did say hello and appeared more open to guest interaction. Again as the picky eater, limited breakfast time meals were difficult, especially as the toaster kept burning my toast : . All inclusive drinks were p*** poor, soft drinks were really sweet and sugary, I requested a diet drink and was still convinced it was full fat, I wouldn’t usually pick as such boring topics but it was making my teeth feel fury. The snack bar around the pool was limited, stinky and uninspiring, as a holiday goer, i rather enjoy pizza, toasties and chips, this i feel is standard for a snack bar. The choices consisted of sandwiches, pasta, soggy chips and some desserts and fruit. I am a picky eater however the hubby didn’t even venture in for snacks. I can agree with other reviews in regards to the entertainment being lack lustre, it was dragged out, cringey and boring. Entertainment during the day was aqua gym the rest of the itinerary was not followed, things like darts, ping pong, which would in fact get guests and staff interacting and engaging. Loud annoying music was played through one speaker all day, I imagine to make up for the lack of effort. Both reps also smoked on the job and drank, which is weird, in my opinion. There is apparently a 2 drink rule at the bar however apparently only applies on certain days, or whenever suits because we had 3 at a time and so did others, but other staff would enforce this rule, which we can respect but this clearly is being followed, much like the sun lounger rules which state no beds are to be reserved, however this happens and staff remove your towel if you aren’t at the beds for 10am. Overall we would not rate this hotel 4 star at all, have stayed in much more welcoming, warm and accommodating 2 stars hotels, i feel i would of enjoyed this stay much more if the staff were more engaging and friendly instead of making us feel like a hinderance for even being there and requiring their services, which we paid over the odds for.

"Not the best experience"

4.0

Hotel states 4* but compared to other hotels I have been to this was not to the standard of 4*. The pool area was never cleaned, tables were dirty, rubbish left and bins overflowing. The drains were extremely dirty and pool drains were black with grime. The entertainment was very very poor, although we didn’t go for entertainment, if I had I would be disappointed. Communal toilet seats broken.

"Lovely holiday, but would not return to this hotel"

6.0

We are a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 children (16 and 13) and have just returned from Belair. Overall, we had a lovely holiday, however, in our opinion the hotel is not 4 star. Good points - the staff are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are spacious and very clean. We stayed in two executive suites, which had a lovely pool and sea view. The pool area is clean. Bad points -The fridge in our room was very noisy. An electrician came to look at it, but nothing resolved the issue. The hair dryer cut out after 2 minute use. They did end up giving me another one, which was much better. The road outside the hotel is a main road and very very busy all day and through the night. The evening entertainment is right next to the road. Sunbeds was never an issue, but as with most hotels people were out reserving beds at 6.30am, butvthere was usually beds still available at 8am. The life guard did remove towels if no-one was on the beds. The pool and sunbed area around the pool closed at 6pm every day. We found this really frustrating as its a lovely time of day to chill and have a swim. The animation team consisted of two people. The only activity that took place through out the day during our week there, was aqua aerobics. There was supposed to be water polo, water volleyball and darts, but none of that ever happened. The evening entertainment was boring, except for the Greek night, with singing and dancing. There was an awful smell coming from across the road near the beach. We are not sure where exactly it was coming from, but it smelt like s**t. It wasn't all the time, but it was every day and it was disgusting. The food was average. Quite a small selection, but what was there was OK. Unfortunately we would not return to this hotel.

Lovely time at Belair Brach Hotel. Food is AMAZING, staff AMAZING so friendly. 2 pools, we mostly used the smaller one, which had some shade - great for the hot days! Rooms clean, has a fridge.
