Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kawasaki-Higashiguchi

Good hotel to stay at for quick and easy access to Haneda airport. The rooms and bathroom are of reasonable size The lobby is attached to Excelsior Caffé which is a good place to grab a coffee in the mornings before you set off to work or sightseeing. The breakfast only costs 770 yen for a basic meal comprising of toast (sandwich), soup and coffee. The internet was fast and snappy and the rooms had ethernet LAN port. There are a total of 3 floors that have vending machines and I believe 4 laundry machines for the entire property. Amenities are self-serve at the lobby and you need to pick up your own toothbrush kit and sleepwear before you go up.

A scheduled power outage during the night time of 1AM to 3AM during my stay but was not a big issue at all. I was woken up in the middle of the night when the emergency evacuation light switched on but the staff had previously warned me about this and offered eyemasks (I brought my own). Noted some of the vending machines did not dispense change because they had run out of coins, so read the signage properly before using. Otherwise there is nothing bad to say about the hotel itself.

They provide discounted breakfast for the cafe next door. The coffee was excellent but unfortunately there's no refills in Japan :( I admit, I am a spoiled American. The hotel is within walking distant to the train station which was how we got around. Within the area, there's lots of shops and eatery close by.

We had trouble getting the staff to help us get transportation to the airport. Akiko was the only staff member willing to put the extra effort to book a taxi for us at 4am. Thank you Akiko.

We had issues getting transportation to the airport because we were leaving at 4am. The staff wasn't helpful at all. It wasn't until Akiko was on duty...she was the only staff member who was willing to make calls to arrange a taxi pickup for us. I am not sure why the other staff members weren't willing to put that extra effort - maybe it was the language barrier. I don't know - but thank you so much Akiko for putting in the extra effort!
