The Wishingwell

It is a cheap stay hotel you get what you pay for. We found the mattress on the bed a bit too soft for us but that was more about us than the mattress. Only complaint I had was the loud foul-mouthed people staying in adjacent rooms who obviously had no thought for people trying to sleep at midnight. Thankfully they must have passed out drunk after about 10 minutes so didn't bother complaining. Would I stay here again I probably would Ive been in worse and payed more.

The staff were lovely! It was my first weekend away on my own and honestly everyone was so friendly all my anxieties soon disappeared! Had a lovely meal too which catered to my dietry needs!

I didn’t like the duvet on my bed as I was cold, it seemed like a summer one which isn’t good in February. I had to double it over to feel warm, luckily I was on my own. Also, I had a pint of Peroni and thought it was very over priced at £4.95.

Very disappointed, hotel room desperately in need of a refresh, bathroom panels broken and hanging off, wardrobe broken, sink cracked with ground in grime. The only positive i have is that the lady on reception in the morning was extremely helpful to is with trying to get hold of a taxi for us.

Felt tired and a bit depressing. Staff were friendly. Bathroom smelt strongly of mould but was perfectly clean. TV remote didn’t work. All minor things but not somewhere to recommend. On the plus side they had done a very good job of decorating for halloween so the young kids would be pleased.

A 9 day stay was booked at the Wishing Well in Selby for the duration of a engineering project in the local area. Instructions given on check in were OK. Room was dated and tired, with the toilet roll holder just clinging onto the wall before finally giving out part way through the stay. One of the bedside lamps was not working. room was very cool when coming into the room which wasnt great after being outside most of the day. I do not know if this room temp issue was caused by the heater not working unless the door card was in place but the lights would go off immediately the card was removed with no time delay. The whole hotel was cold as many of the windows were left open as part of the covid measures. The faults were reported but only the toilet roll holder was fixed during the stay. Food wasnt great to the point that I resorted to getting takeaway food and eating in the room and on one occasion that bar area was packed with a long queue at the bar and lots of children running around. Would I stay there again, only if I could not find accommodation elsewhere for the next 2 projects.
